For the first time, he has decided that he is open to asking for a trade and playing for another team. That will dominate the offseason for the Bucks. Whatever his decision is will have massive roster implications for how they build the team for not just next season, but also for years to come. The center spot is another spot that they have to figure something out, with Brook Lopez being 37 years old. Lopez has been the starting center in Milwaukee since 2018. He will become a free agent this summer, meaning the Bucks might have to find a new guy to start. Unfortunately for them, it looks like they are going to have to find someone else. It looks like Lopez will leave Milwaukee and find another team to play for. The Bucks will more than likely part ways with Lopez, leaving the door wide open for them to get a new center. That is a scary thought, especially if they don't have Antetokounmpo next year. They can't survive two centers leaving in free agency this summer. Lopez was played off the floor at times in the playoffs against the Pacers. By the end of the series, he played only eight minutes in Game 5. How Milwaukee replaces Lopez is going to be tricky. They don't have a lot of cap space to sign a very talented center, so they might have to execute a trade. Without Damian Lillard playing most of next season, this could be a good time for the Bucks to reset at certain positions. Center would be a good position to do just that. This season, Lopez averaged 13 points, five rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He shot 50.9 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc. In the playoffs, his stats dropped to five points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. He shot just 36.3 percent from the field and 26.6 percent from three. NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers predicted to chase $48 million Milwaukee Bucks veteran to support LeBron James and Luka Doncic

LeBron James and Luka Doncic (Image via Getty) The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly exploring the possibility of adding Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez to their roster, aiming to strengthen their frontcourt alongside LeBron James and Luka Doncic . NBA writer Gery Woelfel recently hinted at the Lakers' interest, stating, "I'm sure the Lakers have already talked to him," regarding Lopez's potential move in free agency. Why Brook Lopez Makes Sense for the Los Angeles Lakers According to Billy Heyen of Sporting News , the Los Angeles Lakers have been actively seeking size and versatility after their failed midseason trade for Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams, which fell through due to a failed physical. Lopez, a 7-footer, brings two critical elements L.A. desperately needs: - Rim Protection: Despite being 37, Lopez remains a reliable defensive anchor. - Floor Spacing: A 37% three-point shooter over the last three seasons, he'd complement LeBron and Doncic's playmaking. Brook Lopez's experience playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee proves he can thrive next to a dominant, driving superstar—a role LeBron and Luka fill perfectly. Brook Lopez's Recent Performance and Fit In the 2024-25 season, Lopez averaged 13 points per game, maintaining his reputation as a two-way contributor. His ability to stretch the floor (career 34.6% from three) and defend the paint makes him an ideal fit for the Los Angeles Lakers ' system. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Key Stats: Brook Lopez (2024-25) Stat Category Average Points Per Game 13.0 3P% (Last 3 Seasons) 37% Rim Protection Elite Milwaukee Bucks' Cap Constraints and Lopez's Future With Milwaukee Bucks facing financial limitations, re-signing Lopez seems unlikely. The Los Angeles Lakers, armed with a need for experienced bigs, could swoop in. Lopez's prior stint with L.A. (2017-18) adds intrigue, though his role would now be more specialized. Why the Move Works - Provides immediate frontcourt depth. - Elevates spacing for LeBron/Luka pick-and-rolls. - Low-risk, high-reward for a contending team. Report: Brook Lopez mentioned as a 'name to keep an eye on' at center for Warriors

Report: Brook Lopez mentioned as a 'name to keep an eye on' at center for Warriors Following their season coming to an end with a loss in Game 5 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the postseason, the rumor mill quickly started to spin with different chatter around the Golden State Warriors. Although free agency doesn't begin until the end of June, different names are beginning to be linked to the Warriors. According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, a veteran center could be an option for the Warriors in the summer. In a recent appearance on ESPN's "NBA Today," Marks mentioned Milwaukee Bucks veteran big man Brook Lopez as a "name to keep an eye on" for the Warriors. With Kevon Looney set to be a free agent, the Warriors could look to add a veteran big man to the center position on the depth chart that currently lists Trayce Jackson-Davis and Quinten Post. Adding a center would also give the Warriors some flexibility when it comes to Draymond Green's playing time in the front court. The addition of a proven center could open up more time for Green to play power forward. Steve Kerr recently mentioned not wanting to start next season with Green as the starter at center. Lopez is a 16-year NBA veteran, former All-Star and two-time All-Defensive team center. Last season, the 37-year-old big man 13 points on 50.9% shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest. Lopez spent the last seven seasons in Milwaukee, winning a championship in 2021. This post originally appeared on Warriors Wire! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter!

NBA Champion Free Agent Looking to Sign With Warriors

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. An impending unrestricted free agent is hoping to remain with the Golden State Warriors this summer. Would it behoove the team, which fell in a fast five-game second round Western Conference playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, to bring that free agent back, however? More Golden State Warriors News: Jonathan Kuminga's Future With Warriors Revealed Per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, longtime Warriors center Kevon Looney revealed that he, at least, is gunning for a new Golden State contract in the offseason. Kevon Looney, who will be a free agent, wants to return: "I hope the feeling is mutual... they expressed (they want him to return) but it's the NBA. There's a lot of time until free agency starts. Let's see what happens." — Ohm Youngmisuk (@NotoriousOHM) May 15, 2025 "I hope the feeling is mutual," Looney said. "They expressed (interest in a reunion) but it's the NBA. There's a lot of time until free agency starts. Let's see what happens." Looney was an inconsistent contributor for Golden State this season. Desperate Steve Kerr frequently toggled his non-Draymond Green big men as late as the second round of the playoffs in a futile effort to contain the giants of the Minnesota Timberwolves around the rim. A detail of the Golden State Warriors uniform against the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on November 06, 2023 in Detroit, Michigan. The Warriors are looking abroad to flesh out their State is no doubt aware it needs to upgrade its center position during the 2025 offseason if it hopes to truly compete for the fifth championship of point guard Stephen Curry and power forward/center Draymond Green's Hall of Fame careers, and it may look to bring aboard another, more decorated (individually) veteran close to home. Per Bobby Marks of ESPN, current Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez could be worth a look for the Warriors. Bobby Marks on the Warriors: "I think the one name to keep an eye on regarding that center position is Brook Lopez" — Oh No He Didn't (@ohnohedidnt24) May 15, 2025 "Stanford grad, makes his home in Fresno," Marks said of Lopez. "What is the number on a Brook Lopez type-contract if you can get him on a one-year flier here to patch up that center position?" During the regular season, at least, Lopez looked pretty formidable for the 48-34 Bucks. In 80 healthy regular season contests, the 7-foot-1 vet posted averages of 13.0 points on .509/.373/.826 shooting splits, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.8 assists and 0.6 steals a night. More Golden State Warriors News: Charles Barkley Doesn't Hold Back About Warriors' Future After Elimination "Because the center market is thin," Marks added. "When you look at Myles Turner, you're probably not going to be able to afford him. The next-best guy out there is Brook Lopez. Turner, the Indiana Pacers' standout 3-and-D center, would be a perfect cure for what ails the Warriors around the rim — but, as Marks points out, Turner seems likely to have played himself into an incredibly lucrative new free agent deal this summer. At 37, Lopez was utterly exposed by Turner during the Bucks' first round playoff encounter with Indiana. The former two-time All-Defensive appeared to at times be moving in concrete against the 29-year-old Turner, who was far more mobile. Lopez also struggled to contain his charges at the rack, at least at the level he had during the Bucks' run to the 2021 championship. Still, Lopez remains a solid option — although he'd be the Warriors' fourth starter in his mid-30s next season, alongside 37-year-old Curry, 35-year-old Jimmy Butler, and 34-year-old Green. That's sub-optimal for a team trying to compete against a young, deep West. Bucks offseason outlook: What does Giannis Antetokounmpo's future hold?

The Bucks find themselves in the worst possible situation they've ever been in during Giannis Antetokounmpo's prime. The organization does not possess any high-value assets in the form of draft picks. Its cap situation — the 2025-26 salary cap is projected to be $154.6 million — while not quite a sea of flames yet, is extremely discouraging, and key members like Brook Lopez and Gary Trent Jr. can leave the franchise this summer. It's why Milwaukee might have to consider trading its two-time MVP. Here's what to know about the Bucks heading into the offseason: 2024-25 finish Record: 48-34, 5th in the East, lost to Pacers in the first round Highlight of the season NBA Cup champs, baby! Nothing can take that away from them, regardless of how the actual season ended. Outside of the trophy lifted in Vegas, there isn't much to brag about. Players signed to next season Giannis Antetokounmpo Damian Lillard Kyle Kuzma Tyler Smith Key free agents Gary Trent Jr (UFA) Taurean Prince (UFA) Brook Lopez (UFA) Bobby Portis Jr. (player option) Kevin Porter Jr (player option) Projected salary $132,618,742 (salary cap is projected to be $154.6 million) Projected draft picks (pre-lottery) No. 47 Advertisement Draft focus: The Bucks should focus entirely on talent and potential, and not care whatsoever about positional needs. Given that several players have options, of which some will be picked up, the Bucks aren't actually operating with any real cap space. As such, they should have access to the full non-tax mid-level exception. That said, if they re-sign multiple players, and the salary begins to climb, this could change. Biggest offseason need A new direction, because this one is done. Guys are old, tired, injured, and just generally not at the same level as Antetokounmpo, and that means change. The big red rebuild button needs to be pressed pronto. Next season's goal Rebuild. They should pivot off Giannis and build up further draft equity.
