Vestavia Hills Elementary School West temporarily closed following weekend flooding
VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) — Vestavia Hills Elementary School West will remain closed Tuesday following flooding that affected many parts of the school over the weekend.
Surveillance footage showed water coming through different parts of the school Sunday as a torrential downpour swept through the building. As a result, the school was closed Monday and will remain closed Tuesday as crews clean up the areas.

'Steady progress has been made today in restoration, cleaning, and disinfection of all areas affected by yesterday's severe weather at West,' school officials wrote in a message. 'A special thank you goes to Brookstone Restoration, whose large crew has worked tirelessly through the night to restore the building. Humidity levels inside the school have returned to normal, and their team is continuing to monitor and evaluate all affected areas.'Classes are set to resume Wednesday.
