2025 Thibodaux Mardi Gras parade routes, schedule announced
THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — Carnival season has arrived in Thibodaux, and that means it's time to start making those Mardi Gras plans. With Mardi Gras on the way, the Thibodaux Police Department has shared the routes and schedule for this year's carnival fun. Five Parades will roll through Thibodaux this year: Krewe of Shaka will roll on Feb. 23 at 12:30 p.m. Krewe of Ambrosia will roll on Feb. 23, immediately following Shaka. Krewe of Cleophas will roll on March 2 at 12:30 p.m. Krewe of Chronos will roll on March 2, immediately following Cleophas. Krewe of Ghana will roll on March 4 at 1 p.m. The Krewe of Shaka, Krewe of Ambrosia, Krewe of Cleophas and Krewe of Chronos will follow the same route. Each parade will start on Audubon Avenue at Afton Drive, head north, and turn left onto Menard Street, heading west onto Canal Boulevard. The parade will then move north until W. 1st Street, turning left and heading to Jackson Street, then turning left onto the roundabout across Canal Boulevard and heading east on Gerald T. Peltier Drive. The krewe will continue to S. Acadia Road before turning left onto Bayou Lane and back to Menard Street. From Menard Street, the parade will move eastward to Audubon Avenue, turning right and passing Nicholls State University before ending at John L. Guidry Stadium. The Krewe of Ghana will start its parade on Iris Street, moving west and turning left on Rock Street, then right on School Street. The parade will continue to Canal Boulevard then St. Charles Street before turning left on Menard Street to Canal Boulevard. The Krewe will then head to W. 1st Street and Jackson Street before turning left onto the roundabout. The parade will then move across Canal Boulevard onto Gerald T. Peltier Drive to South Acadia Road until M.L.K. Boulevard. Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue also provided the following safety tips for residents attending parades: Don't park in front of driveways, fire hydrants or along posted routes. Lock your vehicles. Don't let children wander off and make sure they know to stay behind parade barricades. It is illegal to block off areas of the neutral ground for private use. Glass is not allowed on the parade route. Never rush into the middle of a parade to grab beads. Travel in groups, tell people where you are going and have a designated meeting spot. Months of drug investigations in Thibodaux lands two behind bars
THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — Two men have been arrested after months of drug-related investigations, according to the Thibodaux Police Department. On Jan. 31, Thibodaux Chief Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of 26-year-old Carmichael Anderson and 51-year-old Terrence Williams on several possession charges. High speed crash in Washington Parish leaves woman dead According to officers, on Thursday, Jan. 30, Narcotics Division officers, in collaboration with the SWAT team, Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, K-9 Division, Housing Division, and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office executed three search warrants. Between the 200 block of Sanders Street and the 100 block of Iris Street, officers reported finding a large amount of illegal drugs including: Approximately 113gg of Methamphetamine 49gg of Ecstasy (MDMA) 13gg of Crack Cocaine Nearly 6 Pounds of Marijuana 10gg of Klonopin 30 doses of Suboxone 1gg of Heroin 1gg of Powder Cocaine Two syringes of an unknown liquid (Pending Testing) An assortment of Drug Paraphernalia .223 Caliber Pistol Brace Style AR-15 .22 Caliber Pistol Brace Rifle 9mm Pistol Converted to Fully Automatic Assorted ammunition and magazines Nearly $42,000.00 in cash Officers reported as they attempted to serve the warrant, Anderson allegedly ran away and barricaded himself inside an abandoned home. They reportedly chased him around until he surrendered peacefully. Anderson was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on charges of: Possession of Heroin Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a CDS (Felony-3-Counts) Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana (Felony) Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine (Felony) Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine (Felony) Handling of Machine Guns Unlawful (Felony) Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Felony-3-Counts) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting an Officer Williams was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on charges of: Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana (Felony) Possession with Intent to Distribute Ecstasy (MDMA-Felony) Possession of Suboxone (Felony) Possession of Klonopin (Felony) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia The two are currently waiting for a bond to be set.
