After a start to the season that sees his team already ten games back from the division lead and ten games off a Wild Card spot, the Pittsburgh Pirates have fired manager Derek Shelton. Shelton had been in charge of the Buccos since 2020, having failed to reach the postseason in all four full seasons of his tenure. With Pittsburgh, he compiled a record of 306-440 - a winning percentage of just .410.

Elizabeth Township officials unveil new baseball field
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in Elizabeth Township to celebrate the unveiling of a new baseball field. The Boston Ballfield was officially opened on 2001 Donner Street at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Officials showed off the new field, which has a turf infield, grass outfield, new fencing and state-of-the-art lights. Advertisement The field cost around $2 million. Pittsburgh Pirates Jared Jones and Jack Suwinski joined the event. Visitors were able to take pictures with the two Buccos and the Pirate Parrot.
