New Market Street Park coming to Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Some of Youngstown's $82 million of American Rescue Plan money can now be seen at work.
A new park is being built at the intersection of Market Street and Indianola Avenue. It will be called Market Street Park, and when finished, there will be tables and a gazebo.
It was the idea of 6th Ward Councilwoman Anita Davis. She hopes it will help with the redevelopment of the Uptown, where the Buckeye Pace Senior Center and Clinic will soon open across the street.
'It is a park. It's not a playground. It's a gathering place, and I hope to have a lot of events and things going on in that Uptown area,' Davis said.
The cost of the park is $400,000. Davis said she hopes to eventually also put a fountain in the park, with the money for that being raised separately.
