BPD to increase patrols during Click It or Ticket campaign
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Brighton Police Department is taking part in the national Buckle Up New York Click It or Ticket campaign which runs from May 19 through June 1. BPD will increase patrols to make sure drivers are wearing their seat belts.
The campaign emphasizes the importance of wearing seat belts and highlighting the risks of not doing so. According to the BPD, a passenger vehicle occupant not wearing a seat belt dies in a traffic crash every 50 minutes, on average.
'In 2023, a staggering 10,484 lives were lost in traffic crashes due to not wearing seat belts,' officers said.
The campaign launched in 1999 and has saved numerous lives.
