MIAA boys' hockey tournament: Favorites, sleepers, analysis for Divisions 1-4

No. 7 Hingham boys' hockey finally gets past No. 4 BC High to win Buddy Ferreira Classic final

Senior forward Matt McLellan, who scored the championship-clinching goal for the Harbormen (16-4-2), was named the tournament's most valuable player. Advertisement Junior Colin Garrity tied things for Hingham at 8:52 of the second period before McLellan scored 1:51 into the third period on a feed from Nick Bigelow, giving the Harbormen a lead they wouldn't surrender. Junior Cam McKenna added the dagger at 10:02 of the final frame on the power play, netting his first of the tournament and giving him 22 goals in as many games on the season. Hingham's title was its first in the Buddy Ferreira Classic since 2022, with its first title having come in 2009. The Habormen hadn't defeated the Eagles in any game in Falmouth since the 2010 season. McLellan was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Mike Karo, a junior goaltender who made 30 saves in the final, and junior defenseman Colman Donohue, who tallied his first varsity goal earlier in the tournament. 'I love that in a hockey game, when it's nice and gritty,' Karo said. 'There was a lot of action going on around the net and my team was able to support me the entire time.' Senior Nolan O'Sullivan, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored the lone goal for the Eagles at 6:33 of the second period to open the scoring. Joining him on the all-tournament team were Eagles senior defenseman Griffin Faherty, as well as senior forward Cam Berry, the recipient of the 10-19 Foundation Scholarship.
