Horry County police charge woman with murder after body found in Burgess community during welfare check
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry County police have charged a 53-year-old woman with murder after officers conducting a welfare check found the person dead and another person at the scene and 'covered in blood.'
The discovery came after officers were called to Dinger Court in the Burgess Community on Friday, and someone who didn't live at the home and was covered in blood answered the door, police said Saturday in a Facebook post. Officers found the victim's body in a closet, along with evidence of a shooting.
Joyanna Vansant was taken into custody and booked into the J Reuben Long Detention Center early Saturday morning. She was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime. She is being held without bond.
No additional information was immediately available, but police said the investigation remains active. Count on News13 for updates.
