Police issue update following investigation after woman found dead near former cricket club
Police have issued an update after the body of a woman was found near to a former Manchester cricket club. Officers were called out to a site off Brookthorpe Avenue, in Burnage, at around 3pm on Monday (May 5). A cordon was put in place at the former Burnage Cricket Club, with an area still taped off on Tuesday. Greater Manchester Police has been working to identify the woman and determine the circumstances of her death this week. A Home Office post-mortem has taken place, while the Manchester Evening News understands a property in Didsbury was searched. In an update issued this afternoon (Thursday), GMP confirmed that her death is not being treated as suspicious. An inquest into her death is now likely to take place, with police confirming a file has been passed on to Manchester's coroner.
