Karate Kid: Legends star Jackie Chan looks back on the divisive Rush Hour 3, and agrees it's the weakest movie in the franchise: "Too much money is no good"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Rush Hour star Jackie Chan has ranked all three films from the action comedy franchise, and it sounds as though Rush Hour 3 is his least favourite. "I don't know," Chan said when asked by Buzzfeed to rank the Rush Hour movies from his favorite to least favorite entry. "You know what, the first one: little money, little time. We shot it like, 'Go, go, go, go!' The second one: a lot of money, a lot of time. The third one: too much money, too much time. Too much money is no good." Starring Chan and Chris Tucker, the Rush Hour trilogy kicked off in 1998, with the first movie following two squabbling cops from different cultures who team up to save the kidnapped daughter of a diplomat. However, Chan's ranking does actually line up with each movie's critical reception. Rush hour, which is Chan's favorite, currently sits at 62% on Rotten Tomatoes, and its 2001 sequel, Rush Hour 2, stands at 51%. But the 2007 third installment, which Chan ranked last, has a less-than-impressive 17% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and performed the worst out of the three at the box office despite having the biggest budget. Rush Hour 3, which reunites the duo in Paris, is also the most divisive movie in the franchise, with the widest gap between the critical score and audience score at 63%. Despite the third movie's mixed response, Chan still seems game to make Rush Hour 4, which he teased in 2022. However, fans don't have to wait for Rush Hour 4 to catch Chan on the big screen, as the star returns to one of his other popular franchises in Karate Kid: Legends. After starring in the The Karate Kid remake in 2010, Chan reprises his role as Mr. Han and trains a new student alongside the original Karate Kid, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Karate Kid: Legends opens in theaters in the US on May 30, and is out in UK cinemas now. Netflix horror film about kinky sex game is 'most disturbing' fans have seen
Gerald's Game is a psychological horror thriller that left critics and audiences floored Mike Flanagan's 2017 psychological horror-thriller, Gerald's Game, left viewers and critics stunned upon its release, as evidenced by its impressive 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Now available on Netflix, this film adaptation of Stephen King's 1992 novel – long considered impossible to translate onto the big screen – features Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood as the main characters. Gerald's Game follows the terrifying story of a married couple, Jessie and Gerald, who embark on a secluded retreat, only for Gerald to suddenly succumb to a fatal heart attack, leaving Jessie locked to their bed with no apparent means of escape. Jessie's desperate struggle to survive, compounded by her inner turmoil, is masterfully conveyed in this gripping film, which earned high praise from none other than Stephen King himself, who tweeted: "Saw a rough cut of Mike Flanagan's GERALD'S GAME yesterday. Horrifying, hypnotic, terrific. It's gonna freak you out." Discussing her role in the film, Carla Gugino told Buzzfeed: "It was always considered an un-adaptable book by Stephen King. Also, someone was attached to play the role before. So, from the moment that I spoke to Mike Flanagan to the moment we were filming 'Gerald's Game,' it was literally two weeks.", reports the Daily Record. "So, to come on to that role in that project, in which I was chained to a bed within that period of time, was a real risk. And I thought, 'We're either going to do something really special here, or this is the end of my career.' You know what I mean? There's no middle ground here. I'm so thankful that it was the former." Gerald's Game has been receiving rave reviews and is a must-watch for those who enjoy psychological horror. One critic praised the film saying: "Unsurprisingly, the film is [Mike Flanagan's] most accomplished to date, the result of the years he's spent giving a damn about his characters and their anguish. He's so good at it, he even makes it look easy." Another reviewer added: "Finally, after the abysmal The Dark Tower and the overhyped It, we have a Stephen King adaptation that's worthy of the brand." While one critic stated: "Writer-director Mike Flanagan and co-writer Jeff Howard have turned Gerald's Game into one of the most compelling, eerie, memorable Stephen King adaptations to date." Another added: "Gerald's Game is a symphony of suspense and scares, spiked with just the right amount of gruesome gore." Audience reviews were equally complimentary. One viewer was captivated by the film's unexpected depth, remarking: "This movie is an enigma. On paper, it sounds like a boring movie: a woman is stuck, handcuffed to a bed for a long time, she eventually escapes. It was considered unfilmable for quite a while. But Mike Flanagan did a great job with this film and at this point, it's like he's physically incapable of making a bad King adaptation." Another cinema-goer praised the film's edge-of-the-seat quality, saying: "This movie was one of the most disturbing and suspenseful movies I have ever watched, and it was awesome. Sometimes the plot and story were a little slow and boring, but it was worth it to feel the intensity of the movie. Another great adaptation of Stephen King's work! I enjoyed watching it, I highly recommend it for fans of horror and thrillers!". Meanwhile, a different fan appreciated the storytelling, writing: "This was a fun movie to watch, the characters felt fully thought out. The story is such a simple one to tell but incredibly rich with back story about our main character." And yet another viewer lauded the film's faithfulness to its source material, saying: "One of the best adaptations to Stephen King's works. The substance was there and the story was well developed."

Gabrielle Union Shuts Down Critics Over Trans Daughter Support
Gabrielle Union is standing her ground, and she is not holding back. The actress and activist is once again making headlines for fiercely defending her support of Zaya Wade, her transgender stepdaughter. Union, who has never shied away from speaking out, is shutting down critics who question her parenting choices. In a bold and emotional response, she made it clear that her love for Zaya isn't up for debate, no matter what anyone says. Since Zaya came out as transgender in 2020, Union and her husband, Dwyane Wade, have been vocal advocates for her journey. In her cover story for Marie Claire's Motherhood Issue, the mom of one reaffirmed her support for the 17-year-old, which she believed stemmed from unconditional love. 'People talk about my parenting decisions. Loving my kid unapologetically out loud? Not putting someone out? The bar is on the damn floor,' Gabrielle Union said. The 52-year-old revealed that her approach to parenting was listening and learning. She believed in leaning into love and seeking knowledge from experts and those with lived experiences. 'There's not a manual. I leaned into love and then asked questions—whether that be doctors, child psychologists, people who have lived experience—I'm leaning into that,' she said. Despite Union and Dwyane's supportive stance over the years, the couple has faced criticism from various angles. Some have questioned their parenting decisions, while others have expressed discomfort with their openness about Zaya's identity. Nevertheless, the 'Think Like A Man' star remains unfazed. During the interview, Union explained that she saw her and her husband's actions not as extraordinary but as the bare minimum any parent should offer. 'Nothing we have done as parents feels revolutionary or groundbreaking. It just feels like common sense, kindness, compassionate. All the things that you wish your parents showed you when there's some aspect of your life or your personality that may not fit down the middle of the road,' the doting mom shared. Union also noted that being transgender is who Zaya was born to be, and it is her job as a mom to keep her safe, protected, loved, and educated. This isn't the first time the Oscar award winner has shared her thoughts on parenting a child in the LGBTQ+ community. In 2022, Union dished out advice to parents struggling to accept their LGBTQ+ kids. In an interview with Buzzfeed, she said, 'As our children show up, it is our job to believe them when they tell us who they are and not impose our dreams, hopes, fears, and desires on them.' Union shared that parents should be loving, compassionate, and protective guides for their children, adding that they must learn to respect their children's choices. 'We do not believe in any kind of shaming for existing. That is bizarre, cruel, and harmful. It's important for us to live and love out loud. We didn't exactly understand why [supporting Zaya's trans identity] was a thing because it's like, we love all our kids out loud,' she added. Gabrielle Union isn't just a good mom but also a supportive wife. In 2023, the Hollywood star's husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and she has been by his side since then. In an interview on 'Today,' the former NBA star shared details about his cancer diagnosis. Dwyane revealed he visited the doctor for a routine check following his dad's prostate cancer diagnosis. Although he experienced stomach aches and changes in urination, the 43-year-old didn't think anything serious about the situation. However, after two MRI scans, the doctors confirmed a suspicious mass on his kidney. In December 2023, Gabrielle Union accompanied her husband to the hospital, where he underwent a successful surgery. Eventually, Dwyane would learn that the mass on his kidney was stage 1 cancer. Two years have passed since the diagnosis, and Dwyane is doing okay. In an interview during the New York premiere of her new film 'Riff Raff,' Gabrielle Union shared an update on Dwyane's health. 'He's cancer-free now. He was smart to delay talking about his diagnosis and the surgery for over a year to give us all a little time to make peace with it and let all of our very intense fears kind of dissipate a little bit, but he's brave,' she told Access Hollywood. She also noted that she was proud of Dwyane for choosing to be vulnerable and share his journey with the world, which she believed was inspiring.

How the 'sexiest doctor alive' transformed viral fame into health education for millions
Most children don't witness their parents' struggle to become doctors. But Dr. Mikhail Varshavski remembers watching his father, a physician from Russia, tackle medical school and residency all over again in America. "My father decided to pursue medical education, yet again, in a new country, in a new language for the second time in his life, bless his heart," Varshavski told Fox News Digital. "I fell in love with the field, and I realized this is the only thing I want to do for the rest of my life." Being labeled "sexiest doctor alive" wasn't part of that plan, but Varshavski has leveraged the superficial attention into a way to provide health information to millions. Varshavski's family immigrated to the United States from Russia when he was six years old, seeking a better life. The transition came with challenges, though. "We had to restart our lives completely from scratch," he said. His mother, a Ph.D. math professor, swept floors to pay the bills while his father, who had been a physician in their home country, repeated the arduous process to become a doctor again. Varshavski followed in his father's footsteps, completing an accelerated, seven-year combined program for a bachelor's degree in life sciences and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the New York Institute of Technology. He was also building a following on Instagram before he started his residency in 2014. Then came the "15 minutes of fame," Varshavski said. Buzzfeed published an article in August 2015 titled "Um, You Really Need To See This Hot Doctor And His Dog," a compilation of Instagram photos of Varshavski and his husky. People Magazine dubbed Varshavski the "sexiest doctor alive" in November 2015. The superficial spotlight took Varshavski aback. At first. "This isn't the attention I'm trying to get," he recalled thinking at the time. "I would like to educate people. I want to celebrate healthcare. I wanna put good information out there." Major news outlets and talk shows flocked to book him, but the media frenzy ended fast. If the "gatekeepers" wouldn't let him talk about the topics he cared about — vaccines, nutrition, physical activity — he would have to do it himself, he said. He launched his YouTube channel, "Doctor Mike," inspired by a recurring theme he noticed in his day job. "Patients were being misled by something they read online or saw on television, usually in the form of a late-night infomercial," he said. This not only distracted patients from "putting in work like improving their diet, getting seven to nine hours of sleep, exercising [and] maintaining a healthy mental state," but it also spurred some to take "questionable medications and supplements," Varshavski said. He realized he could reach more than just the 30-40 patients he saw each day in person. He now boasts about 14 million subscribers on YouTube. "At a time where patients' first instinct … is to look at their phones, I wanted to be there for them," he said. "Just like family doctors are there for our patients when they're in the hospital, when they are in the nursing home, when they can't leave their home, and they're bed-bound, we're there." In addition to his videos talking about everything from high blood pressure to nutrition labels, and reacting to popular medical dramas or TikTok videos, Varshavski has also interviewed celebrities, medical professionals, and political guests, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Vice President Kamala Harris and current FDA commissioner Dr. Marty Makary. The New Jersey-based doctor still balances his online fame with his job seeing patients, most of whom don't recognize him as a celebrity, Varshavski said. "The ones that do recognize me are very excited," he said. "I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to have a child who's nervous to go the doctor face light up because it's the doctor that they saw on YouTube." Varshavski will be on "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday, May 27.
