'Moving on': Hugh Jackman's primary school best friend pleads with his ex Deborra-Lee Furness after her shock 'betrayal' statement
Hugh Jackman's best friend has pleaded with his ex Deborra-Lee Furness after she made a surprising "betrayal" statement amid their high-profile divorce. Radio personality Gus Worland, who attended Pymble Public School with Jackman, spoke to 2GB's Ben Fordham Live on Thursday and revealed how the Deadpool & Wolverine star is faring amid the drama. Worland said Jackman is "moving on", suggesting he is happy with his life as the pair navigate their divorce, and urged Furness, 69, to do the same. "He is moving on with his life. I hope Deb does as well. They were together for 30 years and have two beautiful kids together," he said. "I go to their kids and ask them what we can do to make sure they get through this as best as possible." Worland said he was with Jackman in New York City last month, where the Greatest Showman star was "fine" and "going along well." At the same time, he said Jackman was still "going through" the emotions that come with his divorce being splashed across the media. "No one wants anyone to go through what he is, and he is going through it publicly because of his fame," Worland said. Jackman's longtime pal five decades said he has been "really strict" on supporting both exes in doing whatever they need to do to move on. Furness finally filed for divorce from Jackman in New York City last Friday, according to on Wednesday. It comes two years after the former couple announced their split in September 2023 in a move which shocked some Hollywood insiders. Furness then took a very surprising public swipe at the Deadpool & Wolverine star in a candid statement to the same publication. The actress said her "heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal." "It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us," she said. "This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. "It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom." Later, Jackman took to Instagram to share a cryptic video of himself skipping to the tune of NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye in his solo stage show Hugh Jackman Live From New York With Love at Radio City Music Hall. The hit was most likely a nod to Jackman and actor Ryan Reynolds' starring film Deadpool & Wolverine, which features the single. However, the inclusion of the song was notable, given the timing. Jackman also raised eyebrows with a pointed one-word caption. "FINALLY," he wrote. Furness's lawyer Elena Karabatos reportedly submitted further filings which include a health care coverage notice, a proposed qualified medical child support order, a New York state case registry form, the settlement, a proposed judgment of divorce, and a certificate of dissolution of the 27-year union. It's understood Furness and Jackman have agreed to their divorce terms and both parties can expect a judge to sign the judgment. A Daily Mail insider said a "settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with". This could suggest Jackman and Furness negotiated to reach an agreement after their divorce was reported stalled over money in January. Furness believed she was "entitled to money," and Jackman refused. "Hugh and Deborra-Lee have not yet filed for divorce because they are struggling to reach an agreement on how to divide their assets," a source told Daily Mail Australia in March. "Deborra-Lee feels entitled to more money than Hugh is willing to offer. Speculation also emerged the Jindabyne actress was bitter about their split. "While he didn't physically cheat on her with Sutton, Deborra-Lee believes they were having an emotional affair, and she feels he betrayed her," the source said. Jackman and his former The Music Man co-star Sutton Foster, 50, confirmed widespread speculation they were together in January. The couple were spotted holding hands in Santa Monica, California. That same month, photos surfaced of the lovebirds making out in an In-N-Out drive-thru in San Fernando, California. Jackman and Foster were seen laughing and kissing in a Range Rover. Foster split from her husband of ten years, Ted Griffin, last October. They share a seven-year-old adopted daughter, Emily. She is believed to be moving into Jackman's New York penthouse, which he purchased for USD$21.12 million (AUD $30 million) in 2022 with Furness. In February, a source close to the Oscar-nominated star told Closer Jackman 'wants to make Sutton his wife'. The source said the timing of Jackman's official divorce from Furness will impact when he can get married again, but that 'as soon as they are both free and clear, they (Jackman and Foster) want to walk down the aisle'.

Edwina Bartholomew: Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness could take a leaf out of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's divorce playbook
There is 'conscious uncoupling' and then there is whatever is playing out between Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness. A brutal divorce statement from her. A back-handed Instagram post from him. The marriage of one of Australia's most high-profile couples is officially over in a very public manner. After famously meeting on the set of Coreli, Jackman and Furness married in 1996 and adopted two children before going their separate ways in 2023. At the time, they released a joint statement saying they had been 'blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife'. 'Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,' the statement continued. 'Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.' That was September 2023. Fast forward to this week, Deborra-Lee officially filed for divorce accompanied by some very different sentiments. 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal', she said in a statement. 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep.' Ouch. No prizes for guessing the subtext there. The many, many paparazzi shots of Jackman and his new flame, Sutton Forest strolling hand-in-hand in New York and Los Angeles paint the picture. We saw the first photos of the couple in January this year but reportedly the two became close while performing together on the Broadway revival of The Music Man in 2021. As the dust settled on Deb's statement, Hugh took to Instagram to post a video of him… skipping to NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye at the Radio City Music Hall with the caption, 'FINALLY'. Was it a statement on his divorce or finally landing a routine he had been working on for weeks? No one is quite sure but the internet has some thoughts. 'The undertone is poor form, not so Mr Nice Guy,' wrote one follower. There is no one way to divorce in Hollywood but plenty of people have given it a good crack. Strangely, one of the most successful splits started off as a global laughing stock. When Gywneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced their divorce in 2014 with the phrase, 'Conscious Uncoupling' they were laughed out of Tinseltown. Reflecting on the split in Vogue Magazine in 2022, Paltrow admitted she was shocked by the reaction. 'The public's surprise gave way quickly to ire and derision,' she said. 'A strange combination of mockery and anger that I had never seen. I was already pretty tattered from what had been a tough year. Frankly, the intensity of the response saw me bury my head in the sand deeper than I ever had in my very public life'. Now, there's been a shift. 'Conscious uncoupling/separation/divorce, whatever you want to call it, has now permeated the break-up culture. Instead of people approaching me with, 'Why did you say that?', they now approach me with, 'How do you do that?', Gwyneth told Vogue. Reportedly, the divorce settlement between Deborra-Lee and Hugh is amicable with their $250 million fortune split between them and their kids well supported for life. Hugh might just consider archiving that post to keep the uncoupling cordial.

Deborra-Lee Furness describes 'betrayal' amid Hugh Jackman divorce
NEW YORK — Australian actress Deborra-Lee Furness has said her "compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal", after filing for divorce from her husband Hugh Jackman. In a statement released to media, Furness, 69, said: "It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe... is always working FOR us." The couple filed for divorce in New York on 23 May. They announced their separation in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage. Hugh Jackman, best known for playing Wolverine in the X-men film series, has not responded directly to Furness's statement. Furness said that she had gained "much knowledge and wisdom" from the "breakdown" of her marriage to Jackman, 56. "Sometimes the universe has to create arduous circumstances for us to walk through in order to find our way home, back to our true essence and the sovereignty of self love." "It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom," she added, in the statement first issued to the Daily Mail. When Furness and Jackman announced their separation in 2023, the couple issued a joint statement which they said was "the sole statement either of us will make". "Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth... We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness," they said at the time. The pair met on the set of the Australian TV show Corelli in 1995, shortly after Jackman had left drama school. They married the following year and later adopted two children. Since Furness issued the statement, Jackman, currently performing in New York, posted a video to Instagram in which he is skipping to the NYSNC song Bye Bye Bye. — BBC

'Finally': Hugh Jackman shares cryptic response to ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness' shock 'betrayal' statement after she filed for divorce from the Aussie A-lister
Hugh Jackman appears to have responded after his ex-wife of 27 years Deborra-Lee Furness spoke out publicly about her "traumatic journey of betrayal" as she finally filed for divorce from the Australian A-lister. On Wednesday, the Deadpool & Wolverine star, 56, took to Instagram to share a video of himself successfully executing a skipping routine in his solo stage show Hugh Jackman Live From New York With Love. Jackman could be seen skipping to the tune of NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye at Radio City Music Hall. The hit was most likely a nod to Jackman and actor Ryan Reynolds' starring film Deadpool & Wolverine, which features the single. However the inclusion of the song was notable, given the timing. Jackman also raised eyebrows with a pointed one-word caption. "FINALLY," he wrote. It comes after Furness, 69, filed for divorce from the megastar in New York last Friday, almost two years after the couple announced their split, according to on Wednesday. The actress then took a very surprising public swipe at the Broadway star in a candid statement to the same publication. Furness said her "heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal." "It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us," she said. "This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. "It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom." Furness said she has learned "one thing," and that is "that none of this is personal." She said everyone is on "individual journeys" and "the relationships in our lives are not random." Jackman's ex-wife concluded her statement by saying she remained "grateful". She said people come into our lives to "in order to learn our lessons and to recognise and heal the broken parts of ourselves." The powerful statement stands in stark contrast to claims the high-profile divorce is free from "drama". Furness's lawyer Elena Karabatos reportedly submitted further filings, which include a health care coverage notice, a proposed qualified medical child support order, a New York state case registry form, the settlement, a proposed judgment of divorce, and a certificate of dissolution of the 27-year union. It's understood Furness and Jackman have agreed on the terms behind the scenes. Both parties can now expect a judge to sign the judgment. Furness has already received a "handsome spousal support payment," according to a Daily Mail insider. They suggested there was minimal animosity between the pair as a "settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with". Another source said Furness or Jackman has not "contested" the divorce and "worked out the details in advance" without any major disagreement. The source said the settlement included alimony and expenses for the future of their adult children, Oscar, 25, and Ava, 19. The former couple's estimated fortune is about $200 million, partly due to the Wolverine star's involvement in the Marvel blockbuster comic book franchise. They reportedly earned a half-million-dollar profit from the $740,000 sale of their first two-bedroom apartment in August 2015 after purchasing it for $240,000 in 1997. Jackman and Furness then spent $21 million on a five-bedroom, three-story apartment in the Meier Towers building in the West Village neighbourhood of New York City in 2008 and listed it for $38.9 million in 2022. They also own a $3.5 million, 2.5-acre property in East Hampton, New York, which they reportedly rent out for $166,666 monthly, a $5.9 million beach house in Bondi, Sydney and a $21 million penthouse in Manhattan's sought-after Chelsea neighbourhood. Before Furness' statement, speculation emerged the Jindabyne actress was bitter about the split. "While he didn't physically cheat on her with Sutton, Deborra-Lee believes they were having an emotional affair, and she feels he betrayed her," a source revealed to in March. Actress Sutton Foster split from her husband of ten years Ted Griffin, last October after Jackman filed for divorce from Furness. After months of speculation, Jackman and Sutton's relationship was finally confirmed when People magazine published exclusive photos of the pair holding hands on a date night in Los Angeles in January. The couple is believed to be moving into Jackman's New York penthouse, which he purchased for USD$21.12 million (AUD $30 million) in 2022 with Furness. According to one source close to the Oscar-nominated who spoke to Closer in February, Jackman 'wants to make Sutton his wife' after recommitting to Foster following a trip back to Australia. The source said the timing of Jackman's official divorce from Furness will impact when he can get married again, but that 'as soon as they are both free and clear, they (Jackman and Foster) want to walk down the aisle'.

Legendary '90s Boy Band Star, 48, is Unrecognizable in New Photos
Growing up in the '90s, it was nearly impossible to remain totally immune to the boy band craze. Though there were more than a few who made their mark on music during this time, one of the most prolific during this time was NSYNC. The music group is best known for hits like "Bye Bye Bye" and "I Want You Back" — and for launching the careers of its members, which included Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and JC Chasez. And when Chasez, 48, was photographed while out and about this week, he looked totally unrecognizable. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 According to The Sun, Chasez was seen with long hair and a beard — two things he did not have during his boy band days! — while picking up food near the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. See all the photos from Chasez's outing here. Fans who follow Chasez on social media already know that he doesn't post on Instagram very frequently, but even looking back on his most recent post, which he shared in January, he looks completely different. Here's what he looked like just a few months ago: Changing looks are normal for all of us — former boy band legends included — and it's good to see that he continues to stay close to his NSYNC buddies all these years later. And though he's no longer busting choreographed moves on stage during world tours like he once did, Chasez is still making music today. Last year, he released his Frankenstein-themed concept album, Playing With Fire, and he continues to work as a songwriter. Maybe we'll see more of Chasez soon. Hope he enjoyed that dinner he picked up! Legendary '90s Boy Band Star, 48, is Unrecognizable in New Photos first appeared on Parade on May 23, 2025
