Best iPhone 16E Deals: Trade-In an Old Phone for Huge Discounts From Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and More

We love Apple's iPhones here at CNET, but it doesn't mean we love how expensive phones are these days -- especially with money so tight for a lot of us. The standard iPhone 16 is a great device, but if you want something more affordable, then the new iPhone 16E is your best bet. It starts at just $599, but if you know how, you can get it for even less using the best iPhone 16 deals below. Here's what you need to know. The new iPhone 16E has a four-core A18 processor and a new C1 5G modem -- the most power-efficient modem we've seen on any iPhone model to date. It has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, a 48-megapixel rear camera with 2x telephoto zoom and a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies. Like the flagship iPhone 16 lineup, it's also designed for Apple Intelligence and has a dedicated action button to launch Visual Intelligence. And, according to our reviewer Patrick Holland, it also boasts impressive battery life. "The iPhone 16E can definitely make it through a day on a single charge and, depending on how you use it, it'll likely make it through a day and a half before needing to be plugged in," he wrote. The basic model comes with 128GB of storage, with prices starting at $599. The 16E is now available at Apple and several other retailers and carriers, with multiple ways to save some cash. Some offer discounts with a new line of service, and if you have an older phone you don't mind parting with, you can score substantial savings with a trade-in offer. We'll keep a close eye on offers as they come and go and update this page accordingly, so be sure to check back often. When you trade in an eligible device, Apple offers savings on the new iPhone 16E. Trading in an old phone could save you up to $630, which can potentially score you the basic 128GB model free. However, that discount is only available if you're trading in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which would be a bit of a downgrade. For the iPhone 14 series, the most you'll save is $450, which is still a solid deal for this affordable model. Note that the older your phone is, the less you will potentially receive for a trade-in device. See at Apple If you order the iPhone 16E at Best Buy and sign up with a carrier, there are ways to save. A qualified activation with Verizon and a trade-in of your old or damaged phone will save you up to $600. If you're an AT&T customer, a qualified activation on an eligible unlimited installment plan can save you up to $384, which drops the starting price to just $6 per month. Discounts will be delivered via bill credits over 36 months. See at Best Buy Customers can order the new iPhone 16E at T-Mobile and there are a few ways to save. Those on a Go5G Plus or Next plan can get it free with an eligible trade-in, while those on other plans can still save up to $300. You can also get the device free with a new line and a trade-in or when switching your existing number over from another carrier. There are also several special offers for military members, first responders and people 55 and older. See at T-Mobile Verizon is offering $420 off the iPhone 16E when you sign up for a new line on an Unlimited Welcome, Plus or Ultimate plan. If you're also trading in an old phone with a new line on one of these plans, you can save up to $600, which scores you the 128GB model free. See at Verizon AT&T is offering up to $384 off iPhone 16E when you purchase it on an installment plan, as long as you have (or switch to) an eligible unlimited plan. That reduces the starting price to just $6 per month with no trade-in required. You'll receive the discount via 36 monthly bill credits. See at AT&T US Cellular is offering many ways to save on the iPhone 16E. Activating a new line or account on a qualifying line will save you up to $830, which scores you the 128GB or 256GB model free. You can also get the 512GB model free with a new line and an eligible trade-in. US Cellular is also offering $500 off with a new prepaid line and the port-in of an existing number, which drops the starting price to $99. See at US Cellular Order your iPhone 16E at Boost Mobile and sign up for the Unlimited Premium plan ($60 a month), and you can snag a new iPhone for as little as $300. You can also pay full price for the phone upfront, which gets you a free year of service. See at Boost Mobile If you activate a new line on Visible's $45-per-month Plus Pro plan and buy the new iPhone 16E outright or on an installment plan, you'll get $10 per month back via bill credits over 36 months, saving you $360 total. See at Visible You can order the iPhone 16E from Walmart for $549 or just a little more than $15 per month for 36 months with an eligible activation through AT&T. iPhone 16E Preorder Deals: How to Save on Apple's New Budget Model

Ever since it hit shelves back in 2022, the third-gen iPhone SE has been our favorite phone for Apple users on a budget. A few generations have come and gone since then and we've been eagerly awaiting an update. Now, it's finally here. Apple just announced its new budget-friendly model, officially named the iPhone 16E, and we've got all the juicy details about what you can expect and when you can get your hands on one. Here's what we know so far. The brand-new iPhone 16E is equipped with a four-core A18 processor and a new C1 5G modem -- the most power-efficient modem we've seen on any iPhone model to date. It will have a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, and features a 48MP rear camera with 2X telephoto zoom, along with a 12MP front camera for selfies. Like the flagship iPhone 16 lineup, it's also designed for Apple Intelligence, and has a dedicated action button that can launch Visual Intelligence. We haven't had a chance to test the battery ourselves yet, but Apple promises that it will last up to "12 hours longer than all generations of iPhone SE." The basic model comes with 128GB of storage, with prices starting at $599. Preorders don't officially open until Friday, Feb. 21, so we aren't seeing any deals outside of Apple quite yet. But based on past releases, we've got a pretty good idea of what you can expect. You can grab an unlocked model for less with a trade-in at Apple directly, and you'll probably be able to score even more substantial savings with trade-in and new line offers at major carriers like AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Carriers are typically eager to get an edge over their competitors when there's a hot new release like this, so we'll likely see some pretty significant discounts. We'll keep a close eye on offers and update this page frequently, so be sure to check back often. As of right now, Apple is the only place that has the new iPhone 16E listed on its site. Preorders don't open until Friday, Feb. 21, but we already know what kind of savings are available.
