SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – AMR Springfield has announced that they have been awarded the prestigious Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) designation. Springfield police to enforce parking, code laws in Pine Point neighborhood AMR Springfield states that they are the only ambulance provider in western Massachusetts and one of only three in the state to hold this accreditation. The CAAS designation is a quality control measure that ensures that AMR meets or exceeds the highest industry standards and community expectations. This accreditation process is essential for Springfield residents because they rely on AMR for prompt response, safe patient handling, medical expertise, ongoing education, and well-maintained equipment and vehicles. The CAAS accreditation is awarded to organizations that demonstrate excellence in organizational performance and efficiency, clinical quality, and decreased risk and liability during a year-long audit process. During the audit, AMR proved it met more than 100 CAAS standards, such as: Response times Relations with outside agencies Mutual aid and disaster coordination Community education and relations Hiring and credentialing Clinical standards and quality improvement Safe operations and risk management Vehicles, equipment, and facilities Communications/dispatch AMR Springfield has earned accreditation from all three of the major accreditation agencies including CAAS, the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services, and The Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions. 'Congratulations to the incredible team at AMR Springfield,' said Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. 'The CAAS Accreditation is the 'gold standard' for which ambulance providers are designated and it is no surprise that AMR Springfield is receiving this prestigious honor. Not only have they been providing top level ambulance services for our Springfield and region daily but also during natural and man-made disasters such as the 2011 June 1st EF3 tornado, freak pre-Halloween snow storm of that same year, a downtown gas explosion of November 2012, and of course the recent worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. On top of that, they continue to support and give back to our community. AMR is now the only ambulance company in Western Massachusetts to have this accreditation – a testament to their mission and the brave and dedicated efforts by their workers. Congrats to everyone at AMR Springfield on this well-deserved and earned acknowledgement!' 'Earning CAAS accreditation isn't just about meeting requirements—it's about demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the people we serve,' said Kim D'Angelo, Operations Manager for AMR of Western Massachusetts. 'This recognition validates that our teams are ready to respond at a moment's notice to any challenge that our community may face and that we are appropriately addressing each standard of care from the ground up, every single day. Our emergency providers serving the City of Springfield consistently deliver superior care. We take immense pride in their commitment to professional growth and their dedication to our community.'
