Ottawa's business professionals are once again combining music and charity for a great cause. The Capital Professionals Open Mic (CAPO) returns on May 2 at the Rainbow Bistro, raising funds for the Ottawa Food Bank. The event features three exciting acts, including a prearranged open mic, live bands and a headliner to keep the crowd entertained from 7 p.m. until close.

The CAPO event, founded by tech and music industry veteran Ted Carty, brings together local professionals to support vital community organizations. Carty, who has seen the benefits of the food bank, emphasizes its importance: 'you are one problem away from needing the food bank. Almost all of us are. But it's an incredibly needful organization.'

This year, the Ottawa Food Bank has seen a surge in demand, with one in four households now facing food insecurity, double the number just a year ago. Tricia Johnson, director of communications and development at the Ottawa Food Bank, highlights the growing need: 'People are just one paycheque away from needing a food bank, and that's so true.' The event's fun and memorable atmosphere makes a big difference, offering a meaningful way for the community to come together in support.
