Indian professionals stranded in Georgia amid regional flight suspensions
Amid the suspension of a large number of international flights following the Israel-Iran conflict, a group of 61 persons from Rajasthan, attending a professional event, has been stranded in Georgia. The group has sought the Indian government's help for its safe return to the homeland.
The individuals, mostly Chartered Accountants (CAs) and their families, were attending a residential refresher course in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. CA Bhavik Bhatia of Jaisalmer, accompanied by his wife and child, has posted a video appealing to the Indian government for evacuation.
'Although the situation in Georgia is calm and all members are safe in their hotel, but the situation has caused anxiety among the stranded people,' Mr. Bhatia said in his message. The family members in Rajasthan have also expressed concern over the situation and called upon the Central government to make arrangements for their early return.
The group, comprising 29 CAs and their family members, had left Jaipur on June 8 to participate in the course. They were scheduled to return to Jaipur via Sharjah on June 13. Rajasthan Tax Consultants' Association general secretary Ratan Goyal, who was one of the sponsors of the event, has also sought the intervention of authorities at both the Centre and the State to ensure a safe return of all members.
