Car riders steal goats tied outside house
Unidentified car riders stole three goats worth approximately Rs650,000 from outside a residence in the Chung area. The goats were tied outside the home of local resident Basit. Then thieves arrived in the car, loaded the animals and fled. Chung police registered a case and initiated an investigation by reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the culprits. Other cases in which sacrificial animals were stolen have also been reported. According to Lahore police, 218 suspects have been arrested since May in connection with livestock theft and 161 cases have been registered. Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana said special attention was being paid to curbing livestock theft, apprehending fraudsters and recovering stolen animals. The CCPO stated that comprehensive security and traffic management arrangements had been put in place for cattle markets, traders and the citizens. He directed the officers concerned to ensure protection of the traders and buyers from pickpockets and other criminals. He also ordered strict action against fraudsters involved in duping citizens with counterfeit currency.

Man arrested in township after high-speed chase
SUSPECTED thieves' luck ran out when one of them was arrested after an alert ET Tactical Response team spotted a vehicle suspected to be used in car theft incidents in Amanzimtoti on May 23. Also read: Suspect arrested after brazen business robbery In a statement, ET Rapid Response said after identifying the vehicle, the officers tailed it while relaying the necessary information via the CCPO network, resulting in the quick response of Amanzimtoti police station's crime prevention officers, CCPO, and other security companies. 'While our tactical response unit officers were following, the suspects' vehicle suddenly started speeding excessively, resulting in a high-speed pursuit. Additional ET Tactical Response Team units, CCPO members, and police joined in on the pursuit, giving the suspects no chance of escape, resulting in an end to the pursuit in Illovo township,' said the statement. One person was arrested, and multiple car-breaking implements, false licence plates, and vehicle computer boxes were recovered. The suspect, the vehicle used in the commission of crimes, and the exhibits were processed at the Amanzimtoti police station. ET Rapid Response thanked all role players involved in the operation. Police raid on 'gambling den' sparks clash
A police raid targeting an illegal horse cart race and associated gambling activity near Babu Sabu escalated into violence when local residents attacked the raiding team with sticks. According to officials, the Shahdara police had received a tip-off regarding large-scale betting during the horse cart race, prompting an operation to apprehend those involved. However, the raid met with fierce resistance from locals who attempted to obstruct the police action. During the chaos, the crowd assaulted officers, resulting in injuries and tearing of police uniform. Despite the resistance, the police managed to arrest a key suspect identified as Bala Aslam who is believed to be the organiser of the betting ring. The police also seized thousands of rupees in stake money along with several horses and carts from the spot. A case has been registered against the attackers, including one identified as Tauqeer Bhatti, along with several unidentified persons who had fled from the scene. Eyewitnesses reported that hundreds of spectators had gathered to watch the race when the raid occurred. Police officials say investigations into the incident are under way. Meanwhile, Lahore police claimed to have arrested 1,619 suspects during a crackdown on gambling dens and the online illegal activity so far this year and registered 413 cases against them. According to a spokesperson, more than Rs8.41 million in stake money was seized from the arrested suspects. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said police operations were ongoing to dismantle both traditional and online gambling networks. He directed the police to intensify the crackdown and conduct intelligence-based raids on gambling dens. "The noose is tightening around those involved in online gambling," he said, urging the use of modern information technology to effectively counter the activities. He also ordered legal action against social media accounts and mobile applications promoting online gambling, emphasising the need for collaboration with the public prosecution department to ensure that the cases are pursued to their logical conclusion. I-Team: Thousands of hours of investigative work, new technology led to arrest in Aliza Sherman case
CLEVELAND (WJW) — The state attorney general told the FOX 8 I-Team that more than 6,000 hours of work and new technology led agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to file charges in the murder case of Aliza Sherman. On Monday, Attorney General Dave Yost said the alleged killer, former divorce attorney Gregory Moore, left an electronic trail. Skeletal remains found in Akron identified as 22-year-old man who went missing in 2024 'We were able to create a geospatial map with geography and time and it led to the truth that had long been obscured,' Yost said. 'We have been learning as law enforcement how to use these kinds of records. Also, part of it is just the sheer ability to analyze it. The analytical tools in 2025 are very different than they were in 2013.' Sherman was murdered in March 2013 outside her attorney's office in downtown Cleveland. The case remained unsolved for 12 years. Yost said that this was a massive case for BCI. He said agents started investigating the case in 2021, at the request of Cleveland police. On Friday, Moore was secretly indicted by a Cuyahoga County grand jury on several charges, including aggravated murder, conspiracy and kidnapping. 'The purpose of Aliza Sherman's kidnapping was to obstruct Judge Rosemary Grdina Gold from conducting the trial in the divorce case of Sanford Sherman v. Aliza Sherman,' the indictment states. 'The scheme to use telecommunications devices and/or services to kidnap Aliza Sherman began on or about January 3, 2013, when Gregory Moore and at least one other unnamed individual learned that the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office ('CCPO') was investigating Moore's cell phone usage in 2012 when bomb threats were called into courthouses where Moore was scheduled to be in trial. The bomb threats on January 18, 2012, May 30, 2012, July 10, 2012, were part of a pattern of behavior Moore exhibited to delay court appearances he was scheduled to attend in the calendar year of 2012, a pattern that members of Stafford Law Co. were aware of on January 3, 2013, and which continued from January 3 up to and including March 24, 2013. Within a day of when Moore and said other individual(s) learned of the CCPO investigation, Moore obtained a new cellular phone on the Stafford Law Verizon business account and was given control of a 4G Mobile Broadband device ('mobile hot spot') that was also on the Stafford Law Verizon business account by an individual with authority to make such changes to devices on the firm's account. This change to the mobile hot spot facilitated Moore's ability to perform the overt acts in furtherance of the kidnapping of Aliza Sherman in a manner calculated to avoid detection by law enforcement.' Authorities said the motive for the murder was that Moore was not prepared for Aliza Sherman's divorce trial. In 2016, the I-Team questioned Moore about the murder, asking if he was prepared to take her divorce case to trial. He declined to answer. 'They had billed $100,000 on this divorce case and the trial date had been moved several times previously and it wasn't likely to be moved again,' Yost said. 'He wasn't ready to go to trial.' The indictment further notes that either Moore or 'an unknown co-conspirator approached Sherman from E. 12 St., circled behind her, chased her from 55 Erieview to 75 Erieview, and then stabbed her over ten times.' Moore was arrested near Austin, Texas, on Friday, at a relative's home. He is being held in jail in Texas and is expected to have an extradition hearing soon. A date for that hearing has not yet been set. Cuyahoga County officials said once he is brought back to Ohio, he will be in court to face to the murder charges. Suspect stabbed woman, ordered pit bull to attack Jan Lash, one of Sherman's good friends, said she was stunned to learn an arrest had finally been made. 'Personally, I thought there would have been an arrest right away,' Lash told the I-Team on Monday. 'So I'm looking forward to hearing the truth and getting my questions answered. There's so much that doesn't make sense. That doesn't change the fact my best friend isn't here.' BCI agents searched Moore's Summit County home on Friday. PHC slams police over illegal detentions
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday ordered the formation of a full bench to hear the case regarding the alleged illegal detention of five individuals from Hayatabad, reportedly arrested by police during a raid. A three-member larger bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar, Justice Syed Arshad Ali, and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah issued notices to the federal and provincial governments, seeking explanations for the arrests. The case was adjourned to allow for the full court hearing. During proceedings, Justice Ejaz Anwar strongly criticized police practices, stating, 'There is no law here. You arrest people first and file FIRs later. This must stop.' He warned that if the arrested individuals were not produced, the court would consider contempt proceedings against the CCPO and IGP. The court was hearing a petition filed by Abdul Haleem, whose lawyer informed the bench that police raided his client's home on April 27, in search of a woman reportedly missing after arriving from Oman, and took five male family members into custody. Despite previous court orders, the detainees were not presented in court. The CCPO told the court that the individuals had been released on bail under Section 107, and that their custody was not with the police. However, the bench expressed dissatisfaction, questioning the legality of the arrests. Justice Syed Arshad Ali remarked, 'If citizens have been detained, there must be a legal justification. We may summon the Prime Minister and the Attorney General if needed.' Justice Asadullah added, 'Fear the day when your own people are standing here saying the Advocate General is missing.'
