Bishop Woods School raises awareness for CDG
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Students, staff and community leaders gathered at the Bishop Woods School in New Haven on Friday to raise awareness about a rare condition called congenital disorders of glycosylation. It's a large group of rare genetic disorders that affect the addition of sugar to proteins in the body's cells. The school community planted a tree out front this morning in honor of those who have battled CDG. 'Just seeing all the different symptoms that can be sometimes passed over and undiagnosed, I made sure that, from that moment on, that we brought more awareness to CDG,' sixth grade teacher Kat Lupoli said. 'Because everybody, including myself, when we had heard, had never even heard of this disorder.' Gov. Lamont signed a proclamation declaring Friday 'CDG Awareness Day' in the state of Connecticut. What Makes Comme Des Garçons, Carsicko, and Broken Planet the Most Talked-About Streetwear Brands in 2025?
Streetwear in 2025 isn't just about clothing—it's a language. From the bold fonts of Carsicko to the minimal art of Comme Des Garçons and the eco-conscious attitude behind the Broken Planet Hoodie, each brand represents a unique chapter in the global street fashion narrative. If you're looking to level up your streetwear game, these names are dominating culture and closets alike. Whether you're in it for artistic expression, social impact, or just a standout tracksuit, here's why these brands are leading the charge. Founded by Rei Kawakubo, Comme Des Garcons is more than just a fashion label—it's a movement of thought. Known for its irregular silhouettes, deconstructed cuts, and avant-garde collections, CDG has redefined the relationship between streetwear and luxury fashion. The Comme Des Garçons PLAY line made the brand more accessible to streetwear fans. With signature heart-with-eyes logos and simple silhouettes, this line became iconic. Whether it's a plain white tee or a canvas sneaker from their Converse collab, CDG PLAY is proof that less is more. These pieces are seen on everyone from fashion editors to skateboarders, making them the perfect bridge between minimalist cool and bold identity. If CDG is about introspection, Carsicko is pure expression. One of the hottest UK-based streetwear brands right now, Carsicko captures raw, urban energy and fuses it with bold graphics and fearless messaging. From pop-up drops to viral Instagram outfits, the label has grown rapidly in 2024 and 2025. The Carsicko Tracksuit has become a must-have. It's the go-to fit for Gen Z, especially those into drill music, UK street culture, or simply love a head-turning look. Available in signature colorways with oversized fonts, reflective logos, and sleek fits, it's both functional and fashion-forward. You'll often see creators, athletes, and influencers pairing these tracksuits with Jordans or Air Max for that modern urban silhouette. Enter Broken Planet—the streetwear brand doing more than just making clothes. This label is putting sustainability at the forefront of its identity. Every piece reflects an urgent message about the planet, waste, and climate—without sacrificing style. The Broken Planet Hoodie is more than just cozy. It's symbolic. Made using organic or recycled materials and printed with powerful phrases like 'There is No Planet B' or 'Save Yourself, Not the World,' it lets you wear your values. It features an oversized fit, heavyweight fabric, and attention-grabbing designs that speak volumes. Pair it with cargos, techwear pants, or even a Carsicko tracksuit bottom, and you've got a fit that's visually and ethically strong. Each of these brands brings a different energy to the table.
