Chandigarh: In a major relief to summer travellers, the Railways have announced the extension of the Chandigarh–Patna Summer Special Express (Train No. 04504/04503) until July 11.
This decision comes as part of efforts to cater to the high passenger demand during the summer holiday season.
Earlier, the special express was scheduled to be discontinued after May 31. However, considering the heavy rush of passengers, authorities have decided to continue its services on the existing schedule, route, and composition.
The reserved summer special express connects Chandigarh with key cities including Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Lucknow, Sultanpur, Varanasi, and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (formerly Mughalsarai), en route to Patna.
The train takes approximately 24 hours to cover 1,156 km at an average speed of 48.17 km/h. It is a non-superfast train and includes the following classes: First AC (1A), Second AC (2A), Third AC (3A), Third Economy (3E), and Sleeper (SL).
The train departs Chandigarh at every Thursday at 11:35 pm and reaches Patna the following day at 8:55 pm. The fare for this train ranges Rs 690 per passenger for Sleeper class, Rs 1815 for 3rd AC, Rs 2025 for 2nd AC and Rs 3465 for 1st AC.
