UAE among world's best 120 governments, reveals CGG Index
The UAE has risen to the 9th position globally and maintained its top regional ranking among the world's best 120 governments, according to the Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI) 2025.
This marks a 5-position jump from 2024 and a 19-position leap since 2021.
The UAE is also the only Middle Eastern country in the global top 20.
In the sub-category rankings, the UAE dominated 6 key pillars including Leadership & Foresight as it is ranked 2nd globally, Financial Management as it is ranked 3rd globally, Attractive Marketplace as it is ranked 8th globally and Strong Institutions as it is ranked 10th globally.
These achievements highlight the UAE's relentless efforts to strengthen its institutions and diversify its economy over the years.
The UAE also led in several detailed sub-indicators within the CGGI 2025, including Adaptability, Strategic Prioritisation, Innovation, Implementation and Budget Surplus.
The UAE's strategic focus on innovation and technology-driven governance reforms has been a key driver of its success.
This aligns with the launch of the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy in 2024, the broader UAE Vision 2031, and the long-term Centennial 2071 Strategy.
Globally, Singapore topped the Chandler Index, followed by Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Germany.
