CJ Egan-Riley on Hibs stint Speaking after the conclusion of his loan at Easter Road in 2023, Egan-Riley told Burnley's club website: 'I enjoyed it a lot. It was a great experience for me, Edinburgh was a lovely city and as a club they welcomed me in from day one. I loved it there. They put a lot of faith and trust in to me and everyone was great at the club with me. As a footballer you obviously want to be playing every game week in week out and since January when I went up there, I played every game. 'I played in some Edinburgh derbies, played against Celtic and Rangers which are massive games. The Edinburgh derby was crazy! Definitely the best atmosphere I have ever played in. The Celtic away game was also crazy; Celtic Park is a mad stadium. It was just great to experience these type of games and atmospheres.

Burnley boss Parker 'confident' on future of key duo

Burnley are "hopeful" of securing the futures of defender CJ Egan-Riley and midfielder Josh Brownhill, according to boss Scott Parker. The Clarets secured an immediate return to the Premier League by beating Sheffield United 2-1 on Easter Monday and Parker's attentions have turned to getting the out-of-contract duo to sign new deals. "They are ongoing conversations we've been having over the last few months and we'll keep engaging with," he said ahead of Saturday's match at QPR (12:30 BST). "Probably now we all know and there's real clarity on where we're going to be (next season), hopefully we can get some conclusions on both of them." Egan-Riley has featured in 39 of Burnley's 44 league games this season while Brownhill has scored 16 goals in 42 appearances. "I am confident - I know both the players have loved this year and been vital to what we've done," added Parker. "Obviously you never know but hopefully we can get to a point where we'll have a bit of clarity on that." Latest Burnley news, analysis and fan views Get Burnley news sent straight to your phone

Leeds and Burnley both have 94 points with two games remaining but Daniel Farke's side have a considerably better goal difference. Burnley will be determined to fare considerably better in the Premier League next season than they did in the 2023-24 campaign, when they were relegated after finishing in 19th place. Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder said of the pitch invasion after the game: 'We were told by the referee before that we would get stewards surrounding us, but I think they went on the missing list. 'It was quite scary out there in the end, people coming and doing bits and pieces. 'It's understandable that emotions are running high, but I don't think we got protected by the football club and stewards one bit. There referee notices that as well.'
