Weapon seized after convenience store theft: CKPS
The Chatham-Kent Police Service has arrested two men after a theft at a convenience store in Chatham. On Monday just after 8 p.m., police said they were called with a report of two men leaving a store without paying multiple times. Less than 10 minutes later, police found both suspects, a 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man and a 19-year-old Chatham-Kent man, walking in the area. When officers went up to the suspects, the 19-year-old allegedly ran and was chased by police. When the CKPS caught up with the suspect, it said a search resulted in a weapon in his possession. The other suspect was arrested without incident. The stolen items were recovered. The 28-year-old is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime. The 19-year-old has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, escaping and being at large without excuse, obstructing police, and failure to comply with a probation order.

Two-vehicle crash in Thamesville sends one to the hospital with serious injuries
An investigation is underway following a two-vehicle crash in Thamesville that left one person with serious injuries. Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers were called to a crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck at the intersection of Selton Line and Victoria Road. An investigation revealed that the SUV was travelling westbound on the Selton Line, while the pickup truck was travelling southbound on Victoria Road when the two vehicles collided in the center of the intersection. Police said the driver of the SUV, a 28-year-old Windsor man, and two other passengers were not injured. The driver of the pickup truck, a 32-year-old man from Thamesville, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The CKPS is currently investigating the collision.
