CM lays foundation for 1,327 urban infrastructure projects

on Tuesday laid the foundation stones for a total of 1,327 urban infrastructure development projects worth Rs 1,002 crore. These projects are being executed under the
Chief Minister's Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme
(CMCUDS) by the
Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited
(
Buidco
).
During the event held at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), located near the Gandhi Maidan in Patna, the CM also inaugurated the integration and automation plan of the drainage pumping station under the Patna Smart City project by pressing a button. With the commencement of this integration plan, the drainage pumping stations in Patna will be monitored from the control room for water drainage.
During the programme, a short film prepared by the urban development and housing department was shown to the CM.
Nitish also released a brochure on the CMCUDS based on development plans.
Earlier, Abhay Kumar Singh, secretary, urban development and housing department, welcomed the CM. During the event, Singh and Animesh Parashar, commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation, provided detailed information about the projects to the CM.
"In July 2024, the UDHD introduced the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme to accelerate development in urban areas.

This includes developing infrastructure in urban areas of the state, such as drainage systems, road construction and renovation, park development, and the construction and beautification of ponds/ghats. A district-level steering committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the district's in charge minister to determine the priority of the projects.
Buidco has been appointed as the executing agency for the implementation of the selected projects," a communique issued from the chief minister's office said
"A total of Rs 400 crore has been allocated to all districts for the year 2024-25, based on the population of the urban bodies.
A total of 1,327 projects have been selected across all 38 districts of the state, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 1,002 crore. So far, administrative approval has been granted for a total of 624 projects in north Bihar, including 211 for road and 97 for drainage constructions, 215 for road-cum-drain construction, eight for park development, 56 for street lighting, and 37 other projects.
Similarly, administrative approval has been granted for a total of 703 projects in south Bihar, including 199 for road and 84 for drainage constructions, 317 for road-cum-drain construction, 10 for park development, 26 for street lighting, and 67 other projects," the communique said.
