India's Drone Future: Maj Vishal Saxena Outlines Key Priorities At CNN-News18 Townhall
Last Updated: Major Vishal Saxena has listed out the lessons India has to learn from the use of drone as weapons during Operation Sindoor. India's drone technology has a long way to go to match the global technologies, including those of China, which remains one of the lessons from Operation Sindoor, Major Vishal Saxena said on Saturday. Speaking at CNN-News18 Defence Townhall, he stressed on the need to focus on deep technology and navigation systems. 'For India to be able to produce weapon systems that are completely indigenous, which are not just in terms of ammunition that you fire, but deep technology of drones, that is where India needs to focus on. This is one of the lessons that has come out. The main part of the drone isthe autopilot, or its control system and navigation system. We have realised during Operation Sindoor that this needs extreme focus. In terms of our ability to match world-level technologies or what China uses, we are way way behind. A lot of catching up to do," he said. More to follow…

Dependable Or Not? Lt Gen Khandare On Chinese Military Equipment At CNN-News18 Townhall
Last Updated: The official questioned the dependability of Chinese military equipment and asked if they are tested in combat. Lt General Vinod G Khandare, former Principal Adviser to the Ministry of Defence, hinted at CNN-News18 Defence Townhall that the Chinese military equipment may not be dependable in a real combat situation. Citing the instance of missiles provided to Pakistan by China, Khandare questioned if those were tested in combat. 'You look at what has happened to the Chinese missile PL-15. Where was it tested in combat? You look at JF-17, which was given to Pakistan. Where was it tested in combat? Once we are able to do reverse engineering, we will get to know if there was a defect there. So many generals are being sacked in China for corruption. You have heard that in the missile, instead of fuel, there is water. If that is the weapon system, if somebody is going to give, say from China to Pakistan, that is going to make our job easier," he said. More to follow…

Defence Secretary Unpacks India's Tactical Brilliance In Op Sindoor At CNN-News18 Townhall
Last Updated: The Defence Secretary revealed how India planned the Operation Sindoor's targets in Pakistan, in response to barbaric Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Saturday revealed during CNN-News18 Defence Townhall how planning went into Operation Sindoor and how the targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were chosen and with what message. He said that after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, India wanted to convey the message, which could only be conveyed if terror headquarters were struck deep inside Pakistan. Therefore, LeT and Jaish headquarters in Muridke and Bahawalpur were chosen, he said. 'After Pahalgam, there was meticulous planning of what target we should hit. The intent this time was to go beyond the foot soldiers and hit the headquarters, particularly LET and Jaish at Muridke and Bahawalpur. These outfits' relationship with terror in India goes back to 26/11. The idea was to send a clear message, and the message would only go if we hit the headquarters and not just some of the camps. The planning, therefore, was focused on that. The intent was to hit only the terrorist outfits," he said while speaking at CNN-News18 Defence Townhall. 'This was to convey to the Pakistanis that this was a non-escalatory, calibrated operation against terrorists. That was conveyed to them the next day, they did not respond to our calls and decided to escalate," he added. More to follow…
