Police give update on missing Cole Cooper as they plan more searches this weekend
COPS have issued an update on missing Cole Cooper as they plan more searches this weekend. The 19-year-old disappeared in the village of Banknock four weeks ago. 2 Cole Cooper has now been missing for four weeks Credit: Police Scotland 2 Searches are set to continue this weekend Credit: Police Scotland The last confirmed witness sighting of Cole was around 8.45pm on Wednesday, 7 May, on Glasgow Road, at the junction with Cumbernauld Road, in Longcroft. He was last seen by his family on May 2 or 3 and CCTV footage showed him trying to gain access to his father's house at around 6am on May 4. Cole was reported missing to police on May 9, prompting a major search operation that included helicopters, drones, and specialist teams. Searches are set to continue on Sunday morning and next Wednesday evening. Cops have spoken with nearly 400 residents during their door-to-door enquiries and reviewed more than 2000 hours of CCTV footage. The force is urging anyone with any information on Cole's whereabouts to come forward. A dedicated information portal was set up for the public to do so. Since then, numerous potential sightings, possible lines of enquiry, footage and images have been submitted to the investigating team. Falkirk Area Commander, Chief Inspector Alex Hatrick, said: "Our priority remains tracing Cole and getting answers for his family on his whereabouts. "We have a dedicated team, including specialist officers and national resources, following all lines of enquiry. Chief Inspector Alex Hatrick added: 'Officers will be revisiting the Glasgow Road and Cumbernauld Road areas around the same time as the last sightings to ensure we've spoken to as many people as possible who may have information which could help. 'I continue to urge anyone with information on Cole's movements or whereabouts to come forward. No matter how significant you believe that information is, it could prove vital.' Cole is described as around 5ft 10ins, of medium build with brown short hair and was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket and jogging bottoms.

COPS in the Madeleine McCann search will spend weeks poring over samples they have collected for any shred of evidence after it is called off. Teams have spent three days scanning and digging scrubland near where Maddie disappeared - and paid particular attention to a farmhouse - but are expected to wind up this afternoon. 4 4 4 4 A group of officers today returned to the derelict farmhouse scouted on day one of the operation - and donned gloves to carry out a close fingertip search. They have also dug a trench at the site - where 2007 satellite images showed what appeared to be a white tent. Prime suspect Christian Brueckner is known to have wild-camped in the hippy hangout area around the time of Maddie's disappearance. Investigators were seen carting away soil and other material, and will now spend weeks analysing this for anything linking Brueckner to Maddie. The search was scheduled to last three days from Tuesday with an option to extend if anything of interest was unearthed. A source close to the investigation told The Sun on Thursday morning: 'There are currently no plans to extend and if the situation remains the same the search will end this evening. 'It's very disappointing but nothing taken away from the search area so far has provided any clues.' Investigators are in a race against time to turn up evidence pinning Maddie's case to Brueckner - who they are convinced killed the tot - before he flees Germany. They have zeroed in on an area of scrubland - which prolific thief Brueckner scuttled around as his "rat-run" in 2007. Plans to scour the wider area were scrapped last night - with cops focusing all their efforts on the abandoned buildings linked to the convicted rapist. Police said they were scouring at least five structures within the 21-square-kilometre search area, where there is a crumbling farmhouse, disused well and derelict barns. Cops arrived armed with a radar scanner which can penetrate 15ft into the ground, hoping to find evidence of her body or any other clues. And on Wednesday a large yellow JCB-type digger rolled up to excavate, with evidence of it digging trenches in some of the crumbling sites. The Sun team on the ground saw the excavator pulling back earth to clear it for the radar, and teams taking away boxes of soil for lab testing. It comes after we revealed key figures in the case were flown back to Germany to give further statements on the claims Brueckner kidnapped and killed the toddler in 2007. The ongoing searches are understood to be linked to these secret meetings, which took place at the start of the year. A police theory is the three-year-old or her pyjamas might have been dumped in trenches near the holiday resort that were dug as part of extensive works at the time. Brueckner is set for release from jail in September after serving a seven-year prison sentence in Germany for a 2005 Praia da Luz rape of an elderly American woman. He has never been formally charged over Madeleine's disappearance and denies any involvement - but German cops are convinced he is guilty. Castle then jabs a finger at him and shouts: 'Stop screaming like a little b****,' and tells him to 'Shut up,' as the boy pleads: 'I've done nothing.' Castle calls for back up and then says to the boy: 'Stop resisting or I'm going to smash you.' In the video Castle can be seen holding the teen's face to the ground while he kneels astride him. A Stanley-style knife was later found on the lad but Castle did not know he was carrying a knife when he arrested him. The video emerged as a crowdfunding campaign, launched by ex-Met and Dorset chief inspector Chris Amey, had reached over £22,000 to help pay for Castle's wages. Other former officers had called on the Home Secretary to step in, while a petition asking for him to be reinstated had been signed by 2,000 people. Married father of three PC Castle, who also runs a boxing academy with wife Denise, had thanked people for the 'unbelievable amount of public support'. 'Tackling violence, knife crime and antisocial behaviour are absolutely our priorities. 'At times our officers are required to use force to affect the arrest of suspects, prevent offences and protect the public, their colleagues and themselves. 'I have the utmost respect for the vast majority of officers, who have to use force when making an arrest and do so appropriately and with professionalism, even when they are exposed to risk and violence. They do a tough job and when their actions are proportionate, necessary and reasonable they will always be supported. 'We recognise the risks they place themselves in every day and, as an organisation, we ensure they receive the necessary training so they can correctly and safely arrest suspects, while understanding the importance of treating the public with dignity and respect. 'I would like to remind people that the independent panel gave anonymity to the 15-year-old boy and I urge people not to speculate without fact.' He said: "I think Dorset Police releasing this video shows their desperation. "It is a real dirty tricks move and an attempt to discredit him. "I've watched the video and in my mind I think it is something you would see on a typical Friday or Saturday night up and down the country. "I'm looking at an officer who is trying to restrain a violent offender who has just assaulted two members of the public with a crowd of people surrounding him. "I can assure the public that this probably happens in thousands of incidents up and down the country every single day. "It was a lawful arrest and he used reasonable force. "The language is a bit strong but we have to sometimes use language to get compliance." He said the police should have released the entire video and not just a two minute clip. He said: "Context is everything. If you are going to show the video you should show the whole incident. "Are they going to release footage of the prior assaults or the moment the knife falls out of the boy's pocket while Lorne is making the arrest? "I believe Lorne should be commended for taking a knife off the street which is the aim of Dorset Police's latest campaign."
