Need ideas: Greater Noida seeks residents' help on trash, plastic use

Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has invited citizens, institutions, and community groups to collaborate on a series of awareness events focused on waste management, reducing plastic use , and promoting civic responsibility. Officials said the campaign is part of a broader initiative to improve city cleanliness and encourage eco-friendly practices. "GNIDA is especially encouraging participation from colleges, RWAs, NGOs, civil society groups, educational and medical institutions, CSR-backed organizations, domain experts, social media influencers, and media professionals," an official said. The campaign will revolve around key themes such as segregation of dry and wet waste at source, home composting, recycling, reduction of single-use plastics, and promoting reuse. The objective is to raise awareness and inspire behavioural change through community-led initiatives. "This is not just a government campaign—it is a movement that requires collective participation," said Abhishek Pathak, OSD (Health), GNIDA. "We invite citizens, institutions, and professionals to become change-makers in their communities." To encourage broad involvement, GNIDA has allowed flexibility in dates and formats. Participants can organize awareness drives, street plays, clean-up campaigns, workshops, cultural programmes, public demonstrations, or digital initiatives that align with the campaign's goals. Proposals must be sent via email and should include details of the planned activity, estimated cost (if any), required resources, and type of support needed. Those seeking financial assistance must also share their bank details. Proposals already discussed with senior officials should include a letter of approval. GNIDA has also appointed an official from consulting firm KPMG to coordinate the campaign and assist with queries and planning.
