Martha Stewart Knows She'd Make a ‘Fabulous' WAG

Martha Stewart is a pro at many things, the Super Bowl included. The businesswoman, author, and lifestyle guru has attended 30—maybe even more, she's lost count—games in her lifetime. But for her, it's less about who's playing and more about keeping up with the zeitgeist and having a great time with friends. In fact, it's that cheerful commitment to always living it up that would make her the perfect candidate for one of the sports world's most essential roles: that of the WAG. Stewart is game, for the record. 'Only fabulous,' she quips when asked how she'd be as the wife or girlfriend of a player. 'Those guys are nice and big and muscly, and they're probably fun.' Also fun: Stewart's new Super Bowl ad with Uber Eats, in which she stars alongside Matthew McConaughey, Charli XCX, and others as they muse on the conspiracy theory that football was invented to sell food. Stewart is also releasing a new Caesar Salad recipe exclusively on Uber Eats that fans can order on Sunday to eat as they watch the big game at the Caesars (salad, get it?) Superdome in New Orleans. Below, we caught up with Stewart ahead of the big game to talk about what it was like hanging out with Charli XCX, why she's rooting for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and more. Glamour: I heard you've attended 30 Super Bowls. Is that correct? Martha Stewart: Oh, probably more. I don't know. I have to count one of these days. I've gone all kinds of places—Tampa, at least two times in Arizona, California, New Orleans… This is the second New Orleans. What makes you keep going back? What do you love about it so much, because that's a lot to deal with between the travel, the security… I am a hero worshiper, so I only watch football at the Super Bowl. Or, the final, the playoffs, and the Super Bowl. Same with basketball. Same with golf. I only watch the championships. Just to keep up so I know what's going on. And I have so many friends that go, so we all go together. We have a great time. Before we get more into the Super Bowl, I want to talk about this Uber Eats commercial you did. It's so fun. Before this partnership, were you somebody who ordered a lot on Uber Eats? I never order in. I just don't do that. Usually if I'm hungry, I'll eat a can of sardines. And now everybody can order your Caesar Superdome salad. What's one thing that is a mainstay in your salads? Is there something you have to have in your salads? The best thing in a salad is the vinaigrette. If you don't have a good vinaigrette, you do not have a good salad. Anything you'd never put in a salad? One thing that I don't want in a salad… I don't like garbanzo beans. So, tell me about teaming up with Matthew McConaughey and Charli XCX. Had you ever met them before, and what was it like? I've known Matthew, but I really didn't know who Charli XCX was and we had so much fun. She's great. She's very talented. I didn't know she was the brat. We had a lot of fun working together. We were together all day long, and Matthew was there for three days doing that commercial. Just look at all the parts he has in that commercial. Look how many scenes he has. It's the history of the Super Bowl in 60 seconds. It's pretty good. You got off easy. Yeah, I only had to be there for one day. Are you going to be attending Charli XCX's concerts now? Do you have a lifetime pass to be one of her groupies? Oh, she's coming up to my farm. We're going to hang out. I'm going to introduce her to my granddaughter, who loves her, and we're going to have fun. She's getting married. I have to send her my wedding book. I forgot to do that. I usually send people who are getting married my beautiful, big, blue wedding book. Who are you rooting for on Sunday? Oh, I'll be for Kansas City. And my grandson, who's going also, is rooting for the Eagles, of course. He's always, always rooting for the other team. How come you're rooting for Kansas City? Were you always a Kansas City fan? No, no. I'm a Buffalo Bills fan. I was hoping that they would win. But they're not. I used to be a Giants fan, but where the heck are the Giants? I was looking up to see if you had ever met Taylor Swift before, and I found a picture of you and Taylor with Betty White from, it must be 20 years ago. Do you remember that? Oh, yeah. I saw her in England. We were on a tour, and we hung out a very short time in London. She's a great girl. That was long time ago. I know you've said before that Taylor and Travis are so cute, and I agree with you. That's the only reason I watch now is for Taylor and Travis coverage. I saw them at the Olympics too. No, I saw Travis' brother there. I saw them at the US Open. They were in the next box. Did you get to talk to them? I waved to them. I really didn't have time to talk to them. What are your hopes for them, especially in the off season? What do you want to see for them in their future? I'm a fan of Taylor Swift, and our paths have crossed a few times over the years. I hope to see her in New Orleans this weekend. I'm really rooting for her and Travis. They are a wonderful couple. Hopefully they'll get married soon…I'm waiting just like everybody else! How would you be as a WAG? Only fabulous. Those guys are nice and big and muscly, and they're probably fun. You would be a fabulous WAG. Yeah, I can cook a nice meal. Take care of them. It'd be great. My house might be a little delicate for a football player. Basketball player would be probably better for me.
