15-year-old located safely in Chicago after nine-day search
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — After a nine-day search, stretching across two states, a 15-year-old from Pennfield was found safe in Chicago on Friday, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.
He was originally reported missing on May 7, when he was last seen walking into the woods behind Pennfield High School.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office led an active search for the teenager throughout the Battle Creek area over the last week. Multiple searches were held with volunteers, and a drone was also used.
He was last seen on Thursday, when a confirmed sighting was reported of him arriving at a train station in Chicago. Calhoun County Sheriff's Office announced it was ceasing its search after reaching out to officials in Illinois.
Deputies say arrangements are being made to reunite the teen with his family.
