Kurtis Ming, reporter behind ‘Call Kurtis' segment, joins KCRA 3 in Sacramento TV shake-up
Kurtis Ming, who hosted his eponymous segment on CBS 13 for more than a decade, made his debut Monday with competitor TV station KCRA.
Ming hosted the popular segment 'Call Kurtis' in which callers across the state requested investigations into companies' consumer relations. The nearly 22-year CBS 13 employee stepped down in January. A reason was not given.
Ming will co-anchor Channel 3's 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. newscasts. He will also join the 10 p.m. newscast on My58, which is a separate TV station but shares offices with KCRA.
'It's like showing up to the rival high school,' said Ming, alongside anchors Andrea Flores and Lisa Gonzales, while announcing his role at the station.
Ming, an 11-time Emmy winner who has been nominated 42 times, worked at news stations across California starting from 1996. His first job was at Channel 7 (KRCR) in Redding with Gonzales and NBC's chief White House correspondent Kristen Walker.
'I am happy to be here,' he said.
