Guernsey win first women's Muratti at Victoria Park
Guernsey women kept hold of the Muratti Vase trophy today after defeating Jersey 2-1 at their new home ground, Victoria Park, securing back-to-back victories in the historic competition. The Guernsey team made history last year after beating Jersey 2-0 at Jersey's home ground, Springfield- securing their first Muratti Vase win in 16 years. Calleigh Hedley's brace meant they repeated the trick this year as Guernsey came from behind to win 2-1. Jersey had taken the lead in the first half and missed a penalty before Hedley struck twice to sink The Ceasareans. The men's match will kick off at 3pm today.

Two quickfire goals from Calleigh Hedley saw Guernsey's women come from behind to beat Jersey 2-1 and retain the Muratti Vase for the first time in 24 win added to Guernsey FC's title in this season's Jersey women's league as the Sarnians' resurgence in the fixture fixture between the sides only returned in 2022 after Guernsey were unable to field a side between 2018 and victory in the first senior inter-island game at Guernsey's new Victoria Park ground meant the hosts retained the title for the first time since 2001 - when they won for the fifth successive time. Having started the game brighter Guernsey went behind midway through the first half as Sam Silva got on the end of Tiff Sundby's cross as the hosts appealed for a foul on goalkeeper Emma after Chloe Ingrouille drew a fine save from Jersey's Ana Malta as Guernsey searched for an could have been 2-0 down after 29 minutes, but Queripel kept her side in it as she saved Aine Ruth's penalty after the Guernsey goalkeeper had brought down the Jersey upped the pressure after the break, forcing Malta into a fine 52nd-minute Hedley levelled two minutes later as she beat two players to break through on goal before calmly finding the bottom corner. Three minutes later the Guernsey striker scored again as she rounded Malta and slotted into the empty lost Queripel to injury with 15 minutes left and two minutes later lost her replacement Kayleigh Marquis after she was hurt as Jersey Holly Muirhead and Emily le Page scrambled home what they thought was an equaliser, but the referee ruled it out for handball in the build meant debutant midfielder Jess Frampton went in goal as the hosts almost made it 3-1 during 11 minutes of stoppage time as Candice Bougourd hit the crossbar with a free kick in the 95th minute before Donna Gallienne forced a save from Malta soon after.

Guernsey FC women lost their first-ever match on home soil as they went down 4-1 to Sutton United in the Combined Counties Women's Cup third round. The Sarnians - who started their first campaign in the Jersey women's league this season - had a crowd of more than 700 supporting them at Footes Lane. They also played in the Isthmian League Cup this season, where they were knocked out by Carshalton Athletic on penalties in September. Guernsey - who have won all eight of the league games and are 12 points clear at the top of the Jersey league - started superbly as Calleigh Hedley's sixth-minute lob gave them the lead as she registered her 20th goal in 12 games. Hedley hit the bar soon after as Guernsey impressed, but the south London side took control with Milly Cutler firing her team level after 25 minutes before claiming a second 11 minutes later. Cutler was fouled in the box four minutes into the second half with Beth Humphrey converting the resulting penalty before K'Shaela Burch-Waldron hit the post.
