Calvary Church of Somerset Celebrates 200 years with special guests and community events
SOMERSET, Pa. (WTAJ) — A church that has stood the test of time is celebrating a milestone. Calvary Church of Somerset is marking 200 years of ministry with a series of special events featuring renowned speakers, musicians, and a commemorative flag dedication.
The celebration kicks off Sunday, Feb. 23, with a performance and message from Christian artist Michael O'Brien, a former member of the band Newsong. O'Brien, who has spent more than three decades in ministry, is known for chart-topping hits like 'When God Made You' and 'Red Letter Day.'
Other featured guests include Rob McFarland on March 30, Dr. Jeff Greenway on April 6, and the Keystone State Quartet on April 13. A celebratory dinner will follow the April 6 service. Former pastor Rev. Ray Lyon will also return on April 27, accompanied by musician Matthew Young.
In addition to live worship events, the church is installing a commemorative flagpole, dedicated by Eagle Scout candidate Josiah Antram of Boy Scout Troop 131. Historical displays highlighting the church's 200-year legacy will be set up throughout the building.
