Pittsford boys swimming wins 23rd straight sectional title
WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Pittsford swimming dynasty continued on Thursday night as the Panthers boys swimming team won their 23rd straight sectional title at the Class A finals at Webster Aquatic Center.
The boys matched the girls team from Pittsford, which won their 23rd straight title earlier this school year.
Calvin Braun was named the Swimmer of the Meet, winning two individual races and swimming the anchor leg of two winning relay teams. He won the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke and was the final leg of the 200 and 400 relay teams.
The Panthers finished with 522.5 points, more than double Fairport who finished with 250. Other individual winners for Pittsford were Billy Sanderson in the 200 free, Michael Kusch in the 100 free, and eighth-grader Kosta Oluic in the 500 free,
Webster's Jack Frenzel was the only other swimmer to win multiple events. He took first in the 100 butterfly and finished tied for first with Rush-Henrietta's Chris Lewis in the 50 free.
Brighton's Carlton Cabral won the 100 backstroke and Kyler Thomas from Churchville-Chili won the diving event on Saturday.
Full results from the event can be found on the Section V website. The Class B finals will be on Friday, February 14th. The Class D finals are on Thursday, February 13th with the Class C finals coming the next day on the 14th.
