EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Gosford Park star Camilla Rutherford heartbroken after split from father of her two younger children
Camilla Rutherford was devastated when she and her husband, publicist Rufus Abbott, separated just three months before she was due to give birth to their second child. Now, the Gosford Park star is nursing a broken heart again after splitting up with Dominic Burns, the father of her two younger children. 'It's very sad, but it's definitely over,' she tells me. She and Dominic, 53, a landscape gardener, had been together for 16 years. They met when he stood in for a chum who had been due to take Camilla out for the evening. When she was expecting their first child in 2009, the actress and model said: 'I'm surprised at myself for doing things unconventionally, but we hope to get married after the baby's born and all three children can attend the wedding.' The couple never did exchange vows, though. Speaking at a party in Notting Hill, west London, she tells me: 'We are still such very good friends, but times change.' Camilla's father, the distinguished journalist Malcolm Rutherford, died a year before she made her breakthrough in Gosford Park, the 2001 costume drama for which Lord (Julian) Fellowes won an Oscar. The actress, 48, recently revealed that she had an unpleasant encounter with Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood mogul and convicted sex offender, at the Cannes Film Festival. 'He began being quite overbearing, asking what room I was in at the Carlton [hotel],' she recalled. 'I told him that I had checked out, which was true, but he became quite angry with me, saying that I had not understood him and that I needed to go with him or I wouldn't work as an actress again. 'My friend, emboldened by champagne, turned to him and said, 'How dare you treat my friend like a prostitute'. 'Encouraged by my friend's support and now certain of his intentions, I got cross with him, too.' Lady Violet's last rodeo at lively hen party ahead of wedding Violet Manners is one of society's most spirited party-goers, taking after her mother the Duchess of Rutland, who once crowd-surfed over guests during her 60th birthday bash at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire. It is no wonder then that Lady Violet made sure her own hen party was a lively affair. The Duke of Rutland's daughter, 31, is due to marry 'Caledonian Cowboy' Bill Garnock, 34, a Scottish viscount who went to university in Alabama. For the party, her friends got balloons spelling 'Vi's last rodeo' and danced to country music. Lady Violet, took her guests salmon fishing and rock climbing. Damien brushes off painting pickle He's known for works such as a chopped-up cow and a shark in formaldehyde, but Damien Hirst is the one currently in a pickle. Britain's richest artist was photographed outside his favourite restaurant, Scott's, in Mayfair, with a sling around his left arm. Hirst, 59, dislocated his shoulder in the sea while on holiday in Thailand. He is, however, still smiling. 'I paint with anything,' he says. 'And I paint with my assistant, of course.' Hirst is well known for employing a factory of assistants to help create his installations. Of his injury, he says: 'It's horrific. I had surgery out there, and now I've torn this other muscle.' Banter bishop for Canterbury Why is no one tipping the jovial Bishop of St Davids for Canterbury? The magnificently spherical Dorrien Davies – he could almost be Cardinal Wolsey – gave a speech at St Davids Cathedral on Saturday. 'You're all looking wonderful,' he told the audience. 'The Botox is obviously working!' He proceeded to do the safety announcement. 'If you hear alarm bells, RUN!' Father of two Davies, 61, is wildly popular in Pembrokeshire. Would it not be a welcome change to have him at Lambeth Palace? Not sew clever, Patrick! Great British Sewing Bee host Patrick Grant is used to mixing in elevated circles – but he's not immune to celebrity mix-ups. 'I was at a restaurant in New York and saw someone I thought I knew,' he tells me. 'I went up to her and said, "We've met before". She said something about a film she'd done, and then I was like, "Oh... you're Naomi Watts". 'She was very nice - but I was f****** mortified.' Brewdog co-founder James Watt, who married I'm A Celebrity winner Georgia Toffolo in March, has a confession – he enjoys reading rude online reviews of his pub chain. 'A s*** hipster Wetherspoons', and 'Nobody knew how to brew beer until this pair of t***s graduated', are among his favourites. 'Strong opinions meant we were making waves. If your brand has no haters, it probably has no heartbeat.' England footballer Jarrod Bowen is due to exchange vows with Dani Dyer this Saturday, but he might find it hard to keep her satisfied. The Love Island winner admits she was unimpressed when her fiance gave her a hamper from fashion house Hermes which included a blanket that would normally cost up to £5,000. 'That is the itchiest blanket I've ever seen in my life,' she wails. 'I came out scratching. I would never put that on me; it is just for fashion.' The daughter of Rivals star Danny Dyer appears to prefer high street brands. 'We have got this random Hermes blanket in our house alongside my Next cushion,' she explains. 'It doesn't really add up.'
