Fireside Negroni is the warm cocktail your evenings need

Move over, hot toddy – there's a new winter warmer in town, and it's got a little more bite. Meet the Fireside Negroni, a bold twist on the classic cocktail, served steaming in a mug and laced with the comfort of Earl Grey tea and honey. It's everything you love about a negroni, just softened by heat and citrus-scented tea, with a touch of sweetness that makes it go down dangerously easy. The original Negroni dates back to 1919 in Florence, Italy, when Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender to strengthen his Americano cocktail by swapping soda water for gin. Traditionally made with equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, the Negroni has since inspired countless riffs -from the Boulevardier to the White Negroni. The Fireside Negroni is another smart spin, swapping out the ice for steam and adding a few soothing ingredients without losing that signature edge. What's great is how adaptable the Fireside Negroni is. Want something softer? Use chamomile tea. Fancy a touch more citrus? Add a splash of orange juice or a lemon twist. You could even try a spiced tea blend. Serves: 1 | Prep time: 5 minutes | Level: Easy Ingredients 150ml hot Earl Grey tea 45ml gin 15ml Campari 15ml sweet vermouth 7ml pure honey (citrus) Orange slice and star anise, for garnish Method Brew your Earl Grey tea: bring water to a boil, remove from heat, add the tea bag or loose leaves, and steep for 2 minutes. Strain or remove the bag. In a heatproof mug, combine the gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, and honey. Top with the hot tea and stir well. Garnish with an orange wheel and a star anise pod.
