Man, 21, accused of planting surveillance camera in Williams College gym bathroom
A 21-year-old man is facing criminal charges after prosecutors say they linked him to a surveillance device found in a gym on the campus of Williams College.
Maxwell Hall, of Weston, faces 18 counts of photographing, videotaping or electronically surveilling a partially nude or nude person in connection with an incident on Jan. 16, the Berkshire district attorney's office said.
On Jan. 16, Williamstown police learned of suspicious activity in the Lasell Gymnasium at Williams College. The Campus Safety Service told police they believed a surveillance camera had been planted in a public restroom on the 2nd floor of the gym, Julia Sabourin, a spokesperson for the district attorney's office, said in an email.
A student alerted campus safety to the camera after they oberseved a surveillance device disguised as a phone charger, Sabourin said.
Hall is set to be arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court on June 2.
