Motorcyclists evade police in chase

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Information has been released regarding a police chase in Boardman Wednesday evening. Around 5 p.m. Wednesday on Market Street near Terrace Drive, an officer on patrol noted three motorcycles driving northbound at a high rate of speed and reported that all three were changing lanes in an unsafe manner. The three motorcycles in question were described as a red sports bike without a license plate, a grey Can-Am Spyder and a black Can-Am Spyder. The officer stated his radar showed all motorcycles were driving 65 mph and sped up even more after they passed the patrol car, according to reports. Due to the speed and unsafe lane changes, the officer activated his emergency lights and pursued the bikes, catching up to them in the area of Market Street near Elva Avenue, where reports state the motorcyclists disregarded the lights and sirens, inciting a pursuit. At the intersection of Market Street and East Midlothian Boulevard, reports state the grey Spyder continued on Market Street while the other two motorcycles turned onto E. Midlothian. The officer continued in pursuit of the grey Spyder, which reports state turned around at the intersection of Market Street and East Ravenwood Avenue, traveling southbound on Market Street before turning onto Hilton Avenue. Reports state the driver disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Hilton and Southern Boulevard and began traveling north on Southern before turning onto East Lucius Avenue and driving through a red light. When the pursuit passed over Homestead Avenue, the officer was advised to terminate the pursuit. As the officer was driving back to Boardman Township, he observed the black Spyder stopped at the intersection of East Avondale Avenue and Gibson Street. Reports state the officer pulled his patrol car in front of the motorcycle, exited the vehicle, drew his firearm and ordered the driver of the motorcycle to keep his hands visible. Reports state the motorcyclist raised his hands in the air, asking, 'What is the problem?' When the officer ordered him to shut the bike off, reports state the suspect put the motorcycle in gear and began speeding northbound on Gibson Street. Another pursuit ensued that was ultimately terminated without success. Reports state the pursuit lasted two minutes and covered just over two miles. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. 'Stud of the Sea': Former 'Below Deck' star Captain Lee Rosbach visits Daytona Bike Week

The 'Stud of the Sea' was in Daytona Beach. The former star of Bravo's reality TV series 'Below Deck,' Captain Lee Rosbach is stepping off his mega yacht and jumping on his bike to enjoy the last few days of Bike Week. In a video posted on Instagram Wednesday, Rosbach stood next to his white Can-Am Spyder bike to tease his trip to Volusia County. 'We're loaded up, got the bike on the trailer, hooked up to the motorhome,' Rosbach said in the video. 'Daytona Bike Week here we come — you ain't ready for us. We're going to have a good time.' But in another post early Friday, Rosbach shared a screenshot of Daytona's 39-degree morning weather hinting he might be leaving town. Bike Week 2025: A complete guide to Daytona's 84th annual motorcycle festival 'Anyone who knows me, knows I don't do cold,' Rosbach wrote. 'It's a great thing my Spyder has heated everything. Headed south today where the weather suits my clothing.' Rosbach, 75, has been a yacht captain for more than three decades, according to his profile page on Bravo's website. Born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, he had never even seen the ocean 'until moving to Turks & Caicos with his bride, Mary Anne, to run a restaurant in his mid-30s.' 'In need of cash, he responded to an ad he saw seeking a mate for a delivery on a sailboat — no experience necessary,' the website says. 'At 35, Lee obtained his captain's license and left the restaurant business behind to pursue his newfound passion.' Rosbach starred in 10 seasons of 'Below Deck,' where the Stud of the Sea, as he is known, ran the ship "with a no-nonsense attitude and salty one-liners,' Bravo's website says. In 2018, Rosbach released a memoir titled 'Running Against the Tide: True Tales from the Stud of the Sea,' recounting his life experiences as mega yacht captain. Bravo's reality TV show 'Below Deck' first aired in July 2013. It follows the day-to-day life of a mega yacht crew as they take passengers on charters around the world. 'A young and single crew lives, loves and works aboard a luxurious yacht, meeting the ever-changing needs of demanding clients while visiting some of the world's most beautiful destinations,' read the show's synopsis on Peacock, where it's available to stream. 'Below Deck' has also spawned spin-off versions, including 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht,' 'Below Deck Down Under,' 'Below Deck Mediterranean' and more. Woman riding motorcycle dead after crash with big rig on I-215 in Riverside

A woman riding a motorcycle was killed during a crash involving a big rig on the 215 Freeway in Riverside on Thursday. It happened a little before 8 p.m. on southbound lanes near Van Buren Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. They say that the woman, identified as 61-year-old Riverside woman Stephanie Varieur, was riding a three-wheel Can-Am Spyder motorcycle when she began to turn right and collided with the trailer of a semi truck. "The Spyder was caught by the wheels of the truck," police said. "The motorcycle was flipped over, and the rider was thrown into lanes." After the crash, the big rig driver pulled off the road onto the right shoulder while dragging the bike with it. Police say that other drivers spotted Varieur lying in the No. 2 lane and called to report that a pedestrian had been struck on the freeway. A pickup truck driver stopped to block the lane and protect her from being hit by other cars. Paramedics with the Riverside Fire Department pronounced Varieur dead at the scene. Three of the four southbound lanes were closed for several hours while the investigation continued. Anyone who knows more is urged to contact CHP officers at (951) 324-7210.
