Wednesday's letters: Vaccines prevent misery, save tax dollars

According to the Canadian Respiratory Virus Surveillance Report, there have been 671 deaths related to influenza and 2,186 related to COVID-19 since Aug. 25, 2024.
Of the latter, 93 per cent occurred in seniors. COVID-19 vaccines do not prevent infection but decrease the severity of disease. The benefits of vaccines almost certainly outweigh the risks in this age group. Does it make sense that Alberta is only paying for vaccine for seniors with serious underlying medical conditions?
