Resident Evil fans losing their minds over surprise RE9 teaser
Each of us will have a list of games we're desperate to see announced. For me, The Last of Us Part III easily tops that list, but for you horror lovers, I'm imagining it's Resident Evil 9 that you're craving. Technically, Resident Evil 9 has been announced, although it hasn't received anything in the way of a full reveal. Instead, Capcom simply confirmed its existence in July of last year. The latest instalment is believed to star both Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine as playable protagonists which sounds pretty dang exciting, although I urge you to take this information with a pinch of salt for now. It's been four years since the last mainline instalment in the franchise, Resident Evil Village, landed - that's not including remakes. Interestingly, four years split Village and the previous mainline instalment, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, so it stands to reason that Resi 9 could drop anytime now. Capcom seems to be gearing up for a full reveal, unveiling a classic teaser eagle-eyed fans have recently spotted. Horror fans will adore the new film. In previous years, Capcom has teased its next Resi instalment via the use of roman numerals - and that is once again the case when it comes to Resi 9. A video was recently launched to celebrate Resident Evil 4 Remake reaching 10 million players. Partway through the video, a peculiar street sign could be seen featuring a number of wooden panels. The most observant of fans noticed that from the right angle, these panels formed the shape IX, roman numerals for the number nine.エージェントの皆様へ感謝の気持ちを込めて記念映像をご用意いたしました。ぜひ音付きでお楽しみください。Attention all agents,We've prepared a special video to express our gratitude to all of you, which we hope you'll enjoy (with sound ON)!RE4 Dev Team — Capcom Dev 1 (@dev1_official) April 25, 2025 Could a reveal take place during this summer's Summer Games Fest or Gamescom's Opening Night Live? Will Capcom simply drop a trailer, or perhaps let it air during a State of Play? It's all very possible, and fans are hyped that a new era is almost upon us. 'Definitely about that time. Capcom now is your chance to bring back Jill or Claire or any other forgotten main characters,' wrote Reddit user Vorstar92. 'I hope it will be classic third person view,' added Kiboune. Of course, as soon as the game is revealed, we'll bring you the latest news.

Fans Think Capcom is Teasing a New Resident Evil Game
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Capcom has been on a hot streak in recent years, having released a number of games that have broken back-to-back records for their series and for Capcom as a whole. One of those games was the Resident Evil 4 remake, which became the fastest-selling game in the entire series, even outpacing the widely well-received Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. Now, in a celebratory post for that achievement, fans think they've spotted a hint at the next game in the series. Capcom posted a celebratory video to the official Capcom Dev 1 Twitter account, and it's very strange. It shows Ada Wong ringing a tower bell, after which the infected members of Valdelobos make their way to the village center, donning party hats in the process. One villager shuts a door revealing the text "Celebrating 10 million players," after which we get treated to a strange musical performance and a sign that has fans convinced Resident Evil 9 is on the way soon. Capcom The sign, which says "thank you for playing" in multiplier languages, features a large X-shape, followed by a single horizontal plank below it. It looks innocuous at first, but as fans noticed, if you rotate the image 90 degrees to the right, it looks a lot like "IX" — 9 in Roman numerals. Wait a minute. That's Resident Evil 9, right? — 叉³ (@PVCFork3) April 25, 2025 The timing certainly adds up, if this really is a tease for Resident Evil 9. The last game in the main series, Resident Evil Village (also known as Resident Evil 8), was released four years ago, in 2021, while the game before that, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, was released four years prior, in 2017. If Capcom intends to keep up the pace, a 2025 release for Resident Evil 9 would make the most sense — although as with most publishers, Capcom could be waiting to announce the game or release date in fear of clashing with GTA 6. It comes after the recently released Monster Hunter Wilds reached over 10 million sales in just two weeks, a record both for the series and for Capcom itself. The previous record holder was Monster Hunter World, which sold 6 million units in the same timeframe.
