Capello predicts mistakes Milan won't repeat under Allegri
Former Milan coach Fabio Capello feels the Rossoneri will be mentally stronger under Massimiliano Allegri, but insists the Diavoli must finish in the top four: 'Or it will be another failure.' Milan are on the verge of confirming Allegri's return to their bench after more than 11 years. New Rossoneri director Igli Tare moved quickly to hire the ex-Juventus and Milan boss, who has already won six Serie A titles as a coach. Milan can no longer afford mistakes, and they've started off on the right foot,' Capello wrote in his latest column for La Gazzetta dello Sport. Capello strongly believes that Allegri is the right man to take Milan back to the top and feels there are mistakes players won't repeat under their new manager. With Allegri on the bench, I expect to see the caprices of last season,' wrote Capello. First of all, on mentality. Last season, we saw a team that did everything right for 20 minutes and then switched off. Everyone was enthusiastic about attacking, but few made the same efforts when it came to tracking back. It won't happen with Allegri, who has always created a cohesive environment and a team with a clear purpose and balance.' Advertisement Capello insisted that Milan should not sell Tijjani Reijnders, but 'surely, if the Dutchman leaves, he'll have to be adequately replaced. 'In my view – added Capello – Tare and Allegri should agree on technical choices, while CEO Giorgio Furlani must be responsible for approving or rejecting signings based on financial considerations.' Capello also has clear ideas on Milan's main target in 2025-26. 'I don't know how far they can go, but I know exactly where they must finish. In the top four, otherwise it will surely be another failure,' he concluded.

Milan warned against selling Reijnders to Man City
Fabio Capello warns Milan that he'd 'never' sell Manchester City target Tijjani Reijnders: 'The same thing happened to me when I arrived in Madrid…' Manchester City are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Reijnders for Milan, even though club director Giorgio Furlani reiterated on Saturday that the club don't need to sell their best players for financial reasons. Advertisement The Rossoneri will confirm Igli Tare's appointment today, and the new sporting director is expected to continue talks with the Premier League giants. Capello backed Milan's decision to hire Tare, but admitted the new director will have some arduous tasks, including hiring a new coach. As for Reijnders' future, Capello noted in an interview with Gazzetta: 'The same thing happened to me when I arrived in Madrid. I told the President that I really liked Luis Enrique, too bad they had already sold him to Barcelona. Capello explains why he'd not sell Reijnders Fabio Capello (Photo by) 'For example, I'd never sell Reijnders, but generally, only those who genuinely want to help bring Milan back to greatness should stay. Let me add one more thing: I really hope Camarda is finally given a real chance after a year in which he was kept on the bench far too often.' Advertisement Capello was appointed as the Real Madrid coach in 1996 for his first spell at the Bernabeu, but Luis Enrique joined the Merengues' domestic rivals that summer. Milan finished the 2024-25 campaign outside of a European placement. Having ranked 8th in Serie A this season, the Rossoneri will be playing in the Coppa Italia first round in mid-August, starting the pre-season a few weeks before their domestic rivals.

Incumbent Mayor Sherry Capello wins 2025 Republican primary, faces Liriano in fall
Republican incumbent Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello will face Democrat Cesar Liriano again in the municipal elections Nov. 4 after both won their primaries Tuesday evening. With all precincts reporting and all mail-ins counted, Capello had 840 votes, while challenger Damian Vargas received 177 votes. There were 125 write-in votes in the Republican primary. Liriano, the only one running in the Democratic primary, received 552 votes. Capello is currently serving her fourth term as Lebanon city mayor after defeating Liriano in 2021. "I am proud of what has been accomplished during my tenure in office," Capello said to the Lebanon Daily News May 9. "We are moving the city forward, but we have more work to do to continue this momentum." Capello said that her administration has "improved public safety and efficiencies" for the police and fire departments by implementing new policies and providing necessary equipment to officers and volunteers. Her administration also secured more than $77 million in federal and state grants for various projects. If able to secure a fifth term, Capello said she wants to ensure sustainable housing for all residents and increase the number of affordable housing units to assist with workforce development concerns. Capello said she also wants to support additional investments in the Lebanon downtown and other commercial districts, along with continuing to be accountable with the taxpayers' money with responsible financial oversight of our annual city budget. Liriano is an independent contractor and former Lebanon School District board member. If elected in November, Lirano said he plans on maintaining a close relationship with the community so that they feel that his administration is for and by the people. "One of the biggest problems facing the city is the inability of new businesses to establish and sustain themselves," he said to the Lebanon Daily News earlier this month. "Some of the ways that I would address it are: 1. I would eliminate or minimize the obstacles people face when opening a business. 2. Create incentives for new businesses so they can be successful. 3. Identify locations where more parking can be created. 4. Support existing businesses so they can be successful." Liriano added that he would like to address the rise of drug use in the city especially among young people, and identifying areas and abandoned buildings to work with investment advocates to build affordable housing. The Pennsylvania 2025 municipal election is scheduled for Nov. 4. Matthew Toth is a reporter for the Lebanon Daily News. Reach him at mtoth@ or on X at @DAMattToth. Capello warns Napoli in thrilling Serie A title race
Napoli are 180 minutes away from winning their second Serie A title in three years, but Fabio Capello warns the Partenopei that they have 'wasted' their bonuses while Inter have 'enough energy' to beat Lazio. The Serie A title race will go down to the wire as Napoli and Inter are only divided by one point with two games remaining. Advertisement Capello shared his thoughts on the tight title race in his latest interview with Gazzetta dello Sport. Serie A title race: Capello sends warning to Napoli epa12092721 Napoli's head coach Antonio Conte during the Italian Serie A soccer match SSC Napoli vs CF Genoa at Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples, 11 May 2025. EPA-EFE/CESARE ABBATE 'Napoli had a bonus in their pocket and they wasted it with a 2-2 draw against Genoa, as Conte said,' argued the ex-coach via TMW. 'Now, it's all about not committing any mistakes, and I am convinced Napoli will make no errors.' Conte's appointment and some big signings like Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay have made the Partenopei genuine title contenders this season, and the exciting Scudetto race has been closely monitored by foreign fans who stay updated with the latest at news.22bet. Advertisement 'At the same time, however, I feel the next Italian champions will need to wait until the last kilometre of this exciting race because Inter have a free mind and enough energy to beat Lazio,' concluded Capello. 'Nobody will give up until the last 90 minutes.' Napoli will visit Parma and host Cagliari, while the Nerazzurri will play Lazio at home and Como away. The Partenopei are leading Inter by just one point and saw the Nerazzurri get closer to the top spot this past weekend. Napoli were held to a 2-2 home draw to Genoa last week, while the Nerazzurri beat Torino 2-0 away. 'Genoa had two shots on goal and scored both. These things happen too in football, when you concede a goal, you could've always done something better,' Conte said after the latest Serie A round. Advertisement 'It's disappointing, because we deserved to win for all that we created, so there remains bitterness and regret. 'We did not deserve to drop these two points, but at the same time we must remember we've lost the bonus that we had. We needed seven points from three rounds to win the title, now we need six points from two if we want to win the Scudetto, which would still be something incredible.' Conte has already won domestic titles with Juventus (three times), Inter, and Chelsea, while Nerazzurri boss Inzaghi won the first Scudetto in his coaching career last season, leading the club to the 20th Serie A title in its history. Inter have also qualified for the Champions League Final this season and will meet PSG at the Allianz Arena in Munich on May 31.
