Steelers sign 3 following rookie minicamp, release RB
Cornerback Max Hurleman #37 of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish runs downfield on punt coverage during the Penn State Nittany Lions versus Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl on January 9, 2025, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. | Photo by Joe Robbins/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images The Steelers announced a flurry of roster moves Monday, signing three players following rookie minicamp tryouts and releasing running back Aaron Shampklin to make room. The signings are former Notre Dame running back Max Hurleman, former Ohio State and Indianapolis Colts running back Trey Sermon, and former Lindenwood offensive lineman Gareth Warren. Advertisement The Sermon signing was previously reported. Hurleman, although announced as a running back, has worn a number of hats over his football career. Listed as a cornerback at Notre Dame, he largely played on special teams, logging snaps on coverage units and also returning punts. Before transferring to the Fighting Irish, he played four years at Colgate: three as a running back and one at wide receiver. The 5'11, 202-pound athlete ran a 4.68-second 40-yard dash at his pro day along with a 36' vertical and 13 reps on the bench press. In 2024, he recorded 13 total tackles and 23 punt returns with a six-yard average. Over his Colgate career, he recorded 814 rushing yards on 194 attempts, 80 receptions for 841 yards, and four touchdowns. Advertisement Warren, listed at 6'6, 328 pounds, started 36 games in college at left guard and left tackle. He was a first-team all-conference selection in 2024, helping the Lindenwood Lions rush for a conference-leading 173.7 yards per game. More from

The College Football Playoff has set its dates, kickoff times and networks for 2025-26
It is time to set your calendars Notre Dame football fans, as the College Football Playoff has announced its information for the 2025-26 schedule. As we all saw this past season, the Irish made a run all the way to the championship game, and the expectations will be just as high this coming season. Since Notre Dame is not affiliated with a conference, they will have the opportunity to host a first-round game or go on the road to its opponents venue. The dates for this round have yet to be released. Advertisement Like this past year, one game will be played before the others on New Year's Eve, while the other three will be played on New Year's Day. These four games will be played at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, Capital One Orange Bowl, The Rose Bowl and the All-State Sugar Bowl. The semifinals will be on Jan. 8th and Jan. 9th, with the first game being the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and the second as the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. The championship game will be played in Miami on Jan. 19th, which means that Notre Dame could potentially play its first and last game in the same stadium. Penn State football 2026 NFL Draft prospects: An early look at where Drew Allar may land
Penn State football is preparing for its most anticipated, star-studded season under head coach James Franklin. The Nittany Lions are expected to be a top-five preseason team, make it back to the College Football Playoff and contend for a national title. Advertisement Even more? They could bring a possible record-setting contingent to next year's NFL Draft. That should include another couple of first-round picks. For comparison, Penn State earned eight draft picks twice under Franklin, including in 2024. They landed five picks in this year's NFL Draft that ended Saturday evening, including first-rounders Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren. The Lions' seven-round record: 10 draft choices back in 1996. Here's why their 2026 NFL Draft could challenge that. A way-too-early look at next April in Pittsburgh: Drew Allar #15 of the Penn State Nittany Lions attempts a pass before the game against the Southern Methodist Mustangs at Beaver Stadium on December 21, 2024 in State College, Pennsylvania. Penn State football 2026 NFL Draft prospects Drew Allar, quarterback, senior Drew Allar has everything, physically, to be a first-round draft pick quarterback: great size (6-foot-5, 235 pounds), tremendous arm strength and ever-increasing mobility. He's also been a careful, accurate passer, owning the school record for completion percentage (62.9). Advertisement Can he make the step into a big-game QB extraordinaire? If he becomes a difference-maker at the end of his toughest games, there may be no stopping his draft rise into the top-five. He's the early No. 1 overall pick in this early draft projection and lands in the first round in most others. Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE, senior MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA - JANUARY 09: Dani Dennis-Sutton #33 of the Penn State Nittany Lions forces a fumble against Steve Angeli #18 of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish during the second quarter in the Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium on January 09, 2025 in Miami Gardens, Florida. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images) An injury slowed his national breakout season last year, but Dani Dennis-Sutton finished strong, as hoped. Now, he's sitting on an All-America campaign and potential first-round draft status. His size and power are nearly unmatched at one of the most highly-valued NFL positions. He should be Penn State's next elite pass rusher, following Abdul Carter, Chop Robinson, Odafe Oweh and Micah Parsons — all first-round picks. Advertisement This mock draft has him going to the Pittsburgh Steelers as the No. 20 pick overall — and three other Lions going in the first round. Nick Singleton, running back, senior Penn State running back Nick Singleton (10) carries the ball during the Blue-White game at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in State College. The White team defeated the Blue team, 10-8. Nick Singleton can become Penn State's all-time leading rusher this coming season. The talk from him, and new running backs coach Stan Drayton, is attempting to add more open-field elusiveness to his big-play running style. Hitting another growth level could push him into first-round draft territory, as well. Kaytron Allen, running back, senior Penn State running back Kaytron Allen (13) carries the ball during the Blue-White game at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in State College. The White team defeated the Blue team, 10-8. This punishing, co-starting tailback also could potentially top Penn State's all-time rushing list as a senior. Advertisement Kaytron Allen should team with Singleton to form the top running back duo in the nation. And if he continues to improve as a receiver and stay healthy, he should be a Day Two pick in Pittsburgh. Zane Durant, defensive tackle, senior Senior defensive tackle Zane Durant may be one of the top defensive tackles in the nation this fall. He often played like that last season and seemed underappreciated in Penn State's Top 10 defense. He's improved his playmaking in the backfield each season, to go along with a sturdy presence up front against the run. He's a strong second- or third-round draft projection, at this point. Zakee Wheatley, safety, redshirt senior Penn State football players, including safety Zakee Wheatley, center, walk down Curtin Road outside Beaver Stadium before the Blue-White game on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in State College. Zakee Wheatley grew from a starter-quality safety into a national-grade playmaker by the end of last season. Advertisement In his last performance, against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff, he registered 16 tackles — the most by a Penn State defender in a bowl game in 45 years. The senior expects to grow on that 2024 season, which featured three interceptions, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Nick Dawkins, offensive lineman, redshirt senior+ Nick Dawkins starred as a first-time starting center in 2024 and will anchor one of the nation's top offensive lines. After Saturday's Blue-White Game, coach James Franklin called him one of the best leaders he's ever coached. Drew Shelton, offensive lineman, senior Drew Shelton accounted for himself well as a first-time starter last season at left tackle. He would have earned a draft-eligible grade this year, if he would have chosen to leave. Advertisement Instead, he will team up with Dawkins to help form one of the nation's top offensive lines. Vega Ioane, offensive lineman, redshirt junior Penn State head football coach James Franklin greets offensive lineman Olaivavega Ioane (71) during a NCAA football game against Delaware Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, in State College, Pa. Vega Ioane may be the most athletic member of Penn State's star-studded offensive line — and the one with the most NFL Draft upside. He could push toward a first-round grade, which may help him leave PSU with a year of eligibility remaining. Nolan Rucci, offensive lineman, redshirt senior An intriguing draft possibility after starting just six games last year, his first at Penn State. But the former high school All-American finally began to grow into his enormous potential and should lock down that right tackle job early on. A.J. Harris, cornerback, junior The former five-star recruit who started his career at Georgia enjoyed a stellar 2025 with the Nittany Lions. Advertisement This season could be his time to garner national recognition, he is that talented. If so, he could leave early for the NFL, like Ioane. Penn State football NFL Draft picks 2024 Round 1, Pick 3: Abdul Carter, EDGE, New York Giants Round 1, Pick 14: Tyler Warren, tight end, Indianapolis Colts Round 3, Pick 82: KJ Winston, safety, Tennessee Titans Round 6, Pick 187: Jaylen Reed, safety, Houston Texans Round 6, Pick 201: Kobe King, linebacker, Minnesota Vikings Frank Bodani covers Penn State football for the York Daily Record and USA Today Network. Cade McNamara Among Quarterbacks Who Transferred Out Of The FBS
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA - Cade McNamara of the Michigan Wolverines looks to pass against the Georgia ... More Bulldogs in the Capital One Orange Bowl for the College Football Playoff semifinal game at Hard Rock Stadium on December 31, 2021 in Miami Gardens, Florida. (Photo by) A quarterback who started a College Football Playoff game transferring to the FCS? A quarterback with seven career starts at the FBS level transferring to a Division-II program? There are a handful of quarterbacks who made the move down a level (or two) since the end of the 2024 season. Here is an alphabetical look at some of them. Criswell and Cade McNamara (see below) are easily the most experienced quarterbacks for coach Will Healy and coordinator Cam Aiken (Clemson, Ole Miss assistant) in Johnson City. Criswell won the job at North Carolina last season after spending four years, and 58 career pass attempts, as a backup. He was behind Sam Howell and Drake Maye during a previous three-year stint (2020-22) in Chapel Hill before transferring to Arkansas where he backed up K.J. Jefferson in 2023. Criswell returned to UNC and won a three-way competition with Max Johnson and Conner Harrell last season. With Bill Belichick taking over the program, Criswell entered the portal a third straight year and landed at ETSU. The native Texan returned to his home state by transferring from Marshall to Abilene Christian where he began his career in 2020 and started seven games in 2021 (15 total TDs) before an injury cut his season short. A mass exodus ensued at Marshall when Charles Huff left to take over at Southern Miss. Those hitting the portal included fellow quarterbacks Cole Pennington (see below) and Braylon Braxton (Southern Miss). Earle threw for 673 yards and seven touchdowns in his lone season in Huntington. (The Thundering Herd had to pull out of their Independence Bowl date with Army due to so many players hitting the portal.) After his stint at ACU, Earle transferred up 300 miles up I-35 to North Texas where he attempted only 48 passes in two seasons before transferring to Marshall for the 2024 season. McClain will have the distinction of playing with three schools in his home state of Florida. He will battle returning starter Cam'Ron Ransom for the starting job with third-year coach Raymond Woodie's Wildcats. While they did not cross paths in Tampa, Woodie spent four seasons as an assistant at USF. That is where McClain began his career 2021 when he was immediately thrown into the fire starting nine games for Jeff Scott's Bulls. He has since played in only 11 more games in three years with two teams. McClain, who grew up 25 miles outside Orlando, transferred to UCF where he redshirted in 2022 before starting three games for the injured John Rhys Plumlee in 2023. He transferred to Arkansas State and attempted only 21 passes as a backup to Jalen Raynor last season. The two-time Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year was a high school senior in 2018. At 25, McNamara is four years older than former Michigan teammate and Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy. McNamara, who helped lead the Wolverines to a Big Ten title and a CFP semifinal appearance in 2021, attempted 25 passes in three games in 2022 before a knee injury ultimately requiring surgery ended his season and, as it turned out, UM career. The Reno native transferred to Iowa, won the job and tore his ACL nearly one year to the day of his prior injury. A healthy McNamara started for the Hawkeyes last season only to have a concussion that cost him the season's final month. He threw for 4,703 yards, 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in five seasons of Big Ten play. He is part of a deep quarterback room tat ETSU that also includes the aforementioned Criswell, who was a first-time starter last season for the since-retired Mack Brown at North Carolina. As noted above with Stone Earle, Pennington was among those from the Thundering Herd who entered the portal following coach Charles Huff's departure for Southern Miss. After redshirting in 2022, the son of former Marshall great and Jets and Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington started three games in 2023, including a Frisco Bowl loss to UTSA after injuries sidelined starter Cam Fancher, who entered the portal prior to the bowl. Pennington attempted all of seven passes last season while behind Earle and Braylon Braxton. He left for Gardner-Webb with a resume that includes six career interceptions and one touchdown pass. He and Liberty transfer Nate Hampton (22 career attempts in four years) will be among those competing to lead the Bulldogs' offense. Turner's transfer is unusual in that he dropped rungs from the FBS to Division II. The reason for Turner's decision, though, was clear: First-year head coach Scott Parr was the co-offensive coordinator for each of his three seasons at La Tech. Turner started seven games the past two seasons in Ruston, including the first three in 2024 before a knee injury and performance issues rendered him a backup for the duration. He threw for 1,664 yards with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions in three seasons with the Bulldogs. Williams' transfer has a Tulsa connection, albeit removed by nearly two decades. First-year Sacramento State coach Brennan Marion caught 39 passes for 1,244 yards and 11 TDs with the Golden Hurricane in 2007. His phenomenal 31.7 yards per catch is an NCAA single-season mark. Williams totaled 15 touchdowns while starting four games and playing in nine for the Golden Hurricane in 2023, though injuries and inconsistency led to question marks going into 2024. After losing out to Kirk Francis and attempting only 11 passes, Williams hit the portal and joined the Hornets for Marion's first season as college head coach. Marion was the offensive coordinator at UNLV the past two seasons.

Georgia football's future schedule
The Georgia Bulldogs have a pretty enticing future schedule. Georgia will some of the nation's elite college football programs over the years if things go as planned. The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Power Four schools like NC State, Louisville, Ohio State, Clemson and Florida State over the next decade. Of course, Georgia is also set to continue its annual rivalry with Georgia Tech through the 2037 season. Advertisement Georgia's future schedule is subject to change (including the dates and locations). The biggest factor impacting UGA's future nonconference schedule is if the SEC expands to nine conference game. The SEC currently plays eight conference games with one permanent opponent. Georgia's permanent SEC opponent is the Florida Gators. The Georgia-Florida schedule will be held in different locations starting in 2026 due to stadium major renovations taking place in Jacksonville. Conference realignment can also always impact future schedules. Since this article focuses on Georgia's future schedule, we don't have UGA's 2025 schedule included. If you wish to look at Georgia's 2025 schedule, then we've included it below. Georgia football's 2025 schedule Advertisement As of late March, 2025 Georgia and the SEC don't know the 2026 conference schedule, so Georgia's entire future schedule revolves around nonconference games.
