Protestors rally against Trump administration

CAPITOL, Mich.(WLNS)— Hundreds of protestors gathered at the Michigan State Capitol joining forces to fight for their rights. The 50 States 50 Capitols 1 Day Protest gained popularity through social media, calling on protestors in all 50 states to rally together to oppose the new Trump administration Wednesday afternoon. Kelsey Brianne, an event organizer says the purpose of the rally is to fight against Project 2025. 'People are scared, they're terrified, that they might be deported. That they lose their health care,' said Brianne. 'Basic stuff that is unprecedented. This is not normal. This is not normal and it never has been.' Brianne says the rally's mission is to protect their rights and make their voices heard. 'What they're doing is, they're doing things that they know are illegal to challenge it at the court, cause that's how we lost Roe, and so what's happening is they're shocking us. They're scaring us,' said Brianne. Karen Gregg, a protestor, says Trump is trying to control the country. 'He thinks he can do whatever he wants with the executive orders,' said Gregg. 'and I hope our courts will hold, and stand up to him.' When President Trump pardoned the Jan. 6th defendants last month, Gregg says she was appalled. 'To pardon people, who beat up police officers?' said Gregg. 'They're criminals, and they should be in prison.' One of Trump's promises is to enact the largest mass deportation in U.S. history, something, Sarah Habbo, a protestor, disagrees with. 'The fact that were splitting apart families,' said Habbo. 'It's incredibly wrong, and it's unconstitutional even more than that.' Habbo says American citizens didn't vote for an oligarchy. 'Elon Musk has access to the US treasury, someone who is unelected. Someone who is unvetted,' said Habbo. 'Unapproved by Congress. These are all constitutional violations.' Last month, Trump blamed the D.C helicopter crash on diversity politics, ex-marine, Bill Murphy says differently. 'I've met women more qualified than these weak insecure little boys I see,' said Murphy. 'like the Proud Boys they just let out of jail. I've seen strong women that can handle them with no problem.' Murphy urges the public to educate themselves on Project 2025. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
