Jessica Capshaw Shares White Lotus Audition Story, Says the Actress Who Landed Role Was ‘Fantastic'
A stay at The White Lotus was nearly what the doctor ordered for Grey's Anatomy alum Jessica Capshaw. In the latest episode of her and Camilla Luddington's Call It What It Is podcast — in which the former and current Grey's stars break down the Season 3 finale of The White Lotus — Capshaw shared that she went up for the role of Kate Bohr, the Austin, Texan who reunited with longtime gal pals Jaclyn and Laurie for a girls trip to Thailand. More from TVLine The Last of Us Renewed for Season 3 at HBO The White Lotus Poll: Which Character Should Come Back for Season 4? The White Lotus Composer Reveals He Won't Return for Season 4 After Clashes With Mike White; 'Have Fun With Whatever You're Doing Next' White Replies Leslie Bibb wound up playing Kate to Michelle Monaghan's actress Jaclyn and Carrie Coon's legal eagle Laurie. 'I auditioned for Leslie Bibb's part,' Capshaw said, 'and I remember getting to the audition and being like — I mean, I'm just such a huge fan of the show, so I was giddy with excitement.' TV Roles Almost Played by Someone Else View List Reflecting on casting processes in general, she added, 'It's always so fun to put together an audition and see where it goes, and then see it come to fruition, because what's unbelievably remarkable and wild about the casting process is we're all very different, we all have a very different take on it.' Suffice to say, Bibb's take on Kate made Capshaw a fan. 'Watching Leslie, I was like, 'Oh my god.' I was so in and I thought she was fantastic,' Capshaw effused. Capshaw went on to tell Luddington that she is determined to book a stay at a White Lotus, in a future season. 'I'll audition, I'll keep auditioning. That's what I did for Grey's' and the role of Dr. Arizona Robbins, she reminded. 'I loved Grey's Anatomy and I was like, 'I'll audition all the times!' And I took three times, so I'm hoping it'll just take two for Mike White and The White Lotus. I'll just keep going.'
