eMalahleni learners get career boost
Emalahleni Local Municipality Youth Desk hosted a successful career exhibition at the Witbank Dam, bringing together over 400 learners from across the municipality. The event on May 23 aimed to provide young learners with access to career guidance, educational opportunities, and exposure to various industries. Executive Mayor Clr Vusi Nhlapho delivered the keynote address, emphasising the municipality's commitment to creating platforms that expose the youth to real opportunities for growth and development. 'When we invest in our youth, we are investing in the future of eMalahleni,' Clr Nhlapho said. 'Through initiatives like this Career Expo, we are planting seeds of ambition, exposing young people to real-world possibilities, and reminding them that their dreams are valid and achievable.' Youth Development Coordinator Itumeleng Kabini outlined the purpose of the day and delivered a powerful motivational message, encouraging learners to take initiative in building their futures. Zain recognized for empowering national talent in private sector
Company recently participated in AUM's annual Career Expo KUWAIT: Zain received a recognition from the American University of the Middle East (AUM) in appreciation of its ongoing efforts to empower the local job market with skilled national talent capable of leading Kuwait's digital future. The recognition was presented during the university's annual Excellence Awards ceremony honoring leading companies, held at the Cultural Center on its Egaila campus. During the event, Tareq Al-Othman, Chairman of HumanSoft Holding, presented the award to Hamad Al-Musaibeeh, Corporate Relations Department Manager at Zain Kuwait, in recognition of the company's continuous support of the AUM Career Expo. Career expo guides Lafayette 8th graders in future careers
LAFAYETTE, La. () — , in collaboration with the , , , and the , hosted a aimed at introducing Lafayette Parish 8th graders to a wide range of career opportunities. Approximately 1,300 students are expected to attend throughout the day, engaging in hands-on career exploration activities with nearly 70 participating vendors. The event is designed to help students start thinking about their future careers early by connecting them with professionals and employers across multiple industries. Adrienne Auzenne, the Communications Coordinator for the Acadiana Workforce Solutions Board spoke about the Career Expo. 'It's good to start in 8th because it's also when they begin high school, they're going to start selecting electives and focusing on that career path that they want to enter', Auzenne said. 'So, we just found that 8th grade is a good point of transition to provide them with information on future careers.' She says this was the second time they held a Career Expo. So we are going to have more upcoming career events,' she said. 'My favorite part is watching the kids explore the different careers and seeing them learn the different facets of the careers and what they have and opportunities that they may not know exists.' Tennis Toups, a student at Broussard Middle School says she visited the medical assistant station, and it was interactive. She aspires to be in the medical field. Brennan Blakney, another student at Broussard Middle School said he would like to be a music teacher. Avery Guzzardo, a student at Youngsville Middle School wishes to have a career in sports broadcasting or sports medicine. 'My experience here was awesome. Like there's a lot of new cultures and a lot of new experiences. I got to see a lot of friendly people that I got to just meet and be able to take a look into their every day and what they're able to do,' said Guzzardo. 'I got to play fun games. We had races with medicine cups, and it was so funny. All the people are so very nice. It's so funny.' Jori Mothers, a student at Youngsville Middle School, highlighted his favorite experience was doing CPR on a baby. He wishes to be a firefighter. 'We also have a summer program where they do more career exploration, and it's geared towards high school and early college students. So, we have different activities for the youth that fall under our organization. So, what's next is having parents keep an eye out for programs that offer more opportunities for their kids, not just ours, but just anything in the area.' said Auzenne. The Hawaii Career Expo scheduled for Wednesday at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall will feature many of the state's top employers, including city and state government agencies looking to fill positions with displaced federal workers. A free event, sponsored by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, and presented by Star Events, the job fair is open to all job-seekers and allows talented candidates to meet hiring managers from a variety of companies, the military and government departments at more than 100 booths, organizers said. With the recent downsizing in the U.S. government, this week's Career Expo will also give former federal workers an opportunity to learn about dozens of Honolulu and state of Hawaii agencies that are in the market for skilled employees. 'The City & County of Honolulu are actively recruiting displaced federal employees and professionals from non-governmental organizations impacted by federal funding cuts. To streamline hiring, the City's Department of Human Resources is implementing expedited recruitment measures, ' Star Events Director Denise Ching said. 'In a similar initiative, the state is also prioritizing the recruitment of highly skilled professionals in several areas. These job categories include program specialists, information technology, finance, budget management, engineering, infrastructure development, human resources, accounting, social services and more.
