Shocking moment ex-Liverpool and Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho's interview interrupted by gunshots

GUNSHOTS interrupted a TV interview with Liverpool legend Philippe Coutinho. Loud gunfire likewise erupted when his Vasco da Gama team-mates Leo Jardim and Nuno Moreira went in front of the camera pitchside. 4 Fans were shocked by the scenes in Rio de Janeiro - but many were amazed above all by the reaction of all three players. Former Barcelona midfielder Coutinho, 32, paused when the shots cracked out, before turning around grinning and sharing a jokey comment. His fellow Brazilian, ex- Lille keeper Jardim, burst out laughing. And Portuguese winger Moreira stood calmly with a smile on his face before crossing his arms. Four of Brazil's biggest teams are in the high-crime city of Rio. Vasco, Fluminense, Botafogo and Flamengo are bitter rivals. But some areas of the city - usually impoverished neighbourhoods called favellas - have a history of gang violence. And when clips of the interviews were posted online, fans were stunned by how the three stars made light of gunshots. One fan wrote: "The craziest thing is that no one even moves. Like normalizing things is really scary." Another posted: "The tranquility of the Carioca people[Rio residents] listening to the bullets flying still impresses me. " 4 But a third argued: "Embarrassing. They have to move the training centre out of the middle of this favela. It's embarrassing. For the love of God." A fourth pointed out: "Vasco and Fluminense's training centers are on the same street, practically next to Cidade de Deus. "It's not a good location. But when it comes to the city of Rio de Janeiro, no place is a good place." And a fifth madean even more sobering claim. They wrote: "This is Rio de Janeiro without makeup, not what the authorities try to sell to outsiders. Most Cariocas (sur)vive daily under these conditions of imminent risk when leaving their homes. Devastating and revolting." Coutinho is on loan in his home country from Aston Villa after spending last season with Qatari club Al-Duhail SC. His career has gone downhill since following five scintillating years at Liverpool with a £142million move to Barcelona in 2018. 4

Farm Rio opens on third London store on Carnaby Street, Selfridges to follow

The samba beat rhythm can now be heard in London's famous Carnaby Street following the arrival of Brazilian fashion brand Farm Rio, announcing its third store in the capital. And a fourth is set to appear shortly in Selfridges ' nearby flagship department store. Joining its stores in Marylebone and King's Road, the Carioca (Rio) brand has taken a 2,000 sq ft much-sought-after space on Carnaby featuring over 140 pieces from the Summer 25 collection. This includes signature maxi dresses, relaxed graphic T-shirts, tailored minis, and vacation-focused matching sets. But the destination is also home to Brazilian art and culture, 'complementing the neighbourhood's dynamic atmosphere'. The store's design, by Brazilian architect Renata Gaia, begins with its façade in a shade of green framed by large windows and plants to create 'an open dialogue between the brand's signature prints and styles and the lively pedestrian flow of the street'. During the summer, the façade will be refreshed with further floral textured arrangements. Inside, the tropical flora and fauna of French artist Dominique Jardy's wallpaper merges with the marquetry work of Amazonian artist Maqueson Pereira da Silva. Additional design features include stairs adorned with a moss-inspired texture and sculptural mirrors made from sustainable straw by the Rosalila studio.

Portugal's Galp seeks Namibia oil and gas partner

Portugal's Galp Energia has resumed talks with potential partners as it seeks to develop a discovery in Namibia, the company said on Monday after reporting a 29% drop in adjusted first-quarter core profit. In February, Galp said it had found a significant presence of light oil and gas condensate in a fifth well in the Mopane field offshore of Namibia. Co-CEO Maria Joao Carioca said the well "unlocked a new exciting area within Mopane" and Galp will advance on feasibility studies "in the coming months". At the same time, it is seeking to sell part of its 80% stake in Mopane's Petroleum Exploration Licence 83 to a player who would become its operator. "A partnership is our natural and preferred next step. We are re-engaging with interested parties we have had conversations with before and data is now being shared with them," Carioca told a conference call with analysts. Also on Monday, Galp reported first-quarter adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation fell to €669m (R14.15bn), hit by falling oil output and lower refining margins, but slightly above an average of €666m (R14.09bn) expected by 17 analysts.
