Naga Munchetty apologises to BBC Breakfast weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood live on air after 'sinister' comment

Naga Munchetty apologised to weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood live on Thursday's episode of BBC Breakfast after admitting to making a 'sinister' comment. The TV star, 50, returned to screens to present the morning programme alongside her co-star Charlie Stayt, 62. With just an hour to go until the episode wrapped up, Carol, 63, then featured to inform viewers with what to expect from the weather. The weather lady explained that Friday will start with rain, but some areas could reach as high as 25 degrees. After wrapping up the segment, Naga said: 'I'm liking your numbers Carol.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Thank you Naga,' Carol said back with a smile on her face. Charlie couldn't contain his emotion and burst into laughter back in the studio. Naga said: 'That sounded sinister, didn't it?' Carol replied: 'It did. I don't know what is coming next!' Naga cheekily said back: 'Ah well we have another hour together. We shall see. See you later!' Carol put her hand on her face as the presenters giggled away in the studio. Naga and Charlie present BBC Breakfast Thursday to Saturday while Jon Kay, 55, and Sally Nugent, 53, host the programme every Monday to Wednesday. Sundays are usually presented by step-in hosts. Earlier this month, Naga opened up about the years of experiencing 'extreme pain' after being a victim of 'medical misogyny' on Lorraine. She appeared on the ITV show to chat to step-in host Christine Lampard, 46, about her condition and her new book. Naga was diagnosed with adenomyosis in November 2022, but had been suffering with symptoms since the age of 15, but felt as if she wasn't being listened to and it took 32 years for her to get a diagnosis. Adenomyosis, which affects one in ten women in the UK, occurs where the lining of the uterus starts growing into the muscle in the wall of the womb. On Wednesday, Naga took to Instagram to celebrate her appearance at Hay Festival in Hay-on-Wye, Wales. The star shared some snaps on her account and said: 'Last weekend, almost 1,700 people joined me at @hayfestival to discuss women's health and my new book, It's Probably Nothing. 'It was an insightful and passionate discussion on why women's pain and symptoms have historically been ignored, and what we can do to advocate for ourselves in the healthcare system. 'Thank you to everyone who came to the event, and @hayfestival for having me. 'It's Probably Nothing is now available online, in all good bookshops, and in ebook and audiobook.' Many rushed to the comments section to share the love. One said: 'Fantastic book and such great advocacy, Naga.' 'You were awesome.' 'Amazing.' BBC Breakfast airs on BBC from 6am.

BBC Breakfast host replaced in fresh presenter shake-up - and stand-in immediately struggles with live technical blunder

BBC Breakfast underwent a fresh presenter shake-up on Monday morning - and the stand-in host suffered with a live technical blunder live on the show. Monday to Wednesday's instalments of the programme are usually presented by Jon Kay, 55, and Sally Nugent, 53, followed by Naga Munchetty, 50, and Charlie Stayt, 62, Thursday to Saturday. However Jon was joined by step-in Sarah Campbell on the iconic red sofa instead. And unfortunately the pair had to navigate a technical error when weatherwoman Carol Kirkwood, 62, was presenting one of her segments. Carol was live from Chelsea Flower Show at the historic Royal Hospital Chelsea in London to update viewers with if there was going to be any sunshine. Jon said: 'Carol is therefor us this morning at the Chelsea Flower Show. A sneak peek of the doggy garden a bit later...' As the journalist was talking to camera, Carol was seen smiling in the background on the big screen, but suddenly it went black. He continued: 'But where is she now?!' Sarah couldn't hide her shock and said: 'Oh!' and then added: 'Oh she's back?!' Jon added: 'That's the really dark garden...' 'The night garden,' Sarah giggled back. Jon then went back to see if Carol was on the screen and said: 'Hey morning Carol, morning!' Carol replied saying: 'Good morning!' but before she could finish her sentence the screen went black again. The camera went back to Jon and Sarah in the studio who couldn't hide their disappointment. Carol replied to Jon and Sarah: 'Good morning!' but before she could finish her sentence the screen went black again Sarah said: 'Oh no!' Jon joked: 'I was looking for bright flowers, sunshine... a garden alive.' Sarah said: 'I'm sure once we've got the technicals working we will be straight back to Carol because we all want to know what's going on in Chelsea!' Later on in the show Jon told viewers: 'We've fed and watered our technical equipment at the Chelsea flower show, and Carol is blooming again...' The weatherwoman then returned to our screens and managed to present the segment without any problems. It comes after Charlie Stayt took a cheeky swipe at his co-star live on air during Friday's instalment of BBC Breakfast last week. During the show, business reporter Peter Ruddick broadcast live from Drayton Manor Resort, in Staffordshire, and discussed increasing ticket prices due to rising running costs Peter said: 'Charlie, Naga, I've been having a little wander around, there is a Thomas Land, it looks quite sedate, I'm quite keen on that.' He joked: 'I think I'll probably keep to maybe having a go on the nice little horses over here. Look at that, that looks about my style, about my speed, not too high, what do we think?' Naga quipped: 'I think Charlie would join you on those, wouldn't you? That would be more your thing wouldn't it?' 'I'd be fine with that, I think what you need to do is a variety of things,' Charlie replied. Peter added: 'I'm a very serious business journalist.' 'Who told you that? Who said that?' Charlie quipped in a cheeky swipe, while Naga laughed in the background.

BBC Breakfast viewers have A LOT of complaints as Sally Nugent shows up late to show with a chaotic excuse - fuming 'are we expected to believe this?!'

BBC Breakfast viewers rushed to social media to share their complaints after Sally Nugent showed up late to Wednesday's instalment of the show with a chaotic excuse. The journalist, 53 - who usually presents the morning programme Monday to Wednesday with Jon Kay - appeared on the sofa at around 6:20am. After weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, 62, shared what viewers could expect from Wednesday's weather, she said: 'Hello Sally' at the end of her segment. Jon joked: 'Good afternoon!' Sally said: 'I made it everyone.' 'It's so nice to see you,' Carol told her co-star. The journalist, 53 - who usually presents the morning programme Monday to Wednesday with Jon Kay - appeared on the sofa at around 6:20am Sally continued: 'It's so nice to be here. Sorry I am a little bit late.' Jon told viewers: 'There was a little bit of drama. Are you alright?' Sally said: 'Aw yes Jon, I'm okay thank you. I got stuck in a car, where our studios are, by the Quays, there's lots of water and bridges. 'I got stuck because a bridge came up to let two boats through. One bridge couldn't close again, so there has been lots of people trying to close the bridge, people in high-vis jackets, staring at it, pointing at it, so that took about 40 minutes.' Jon chimed in: 'Yeah the best part of an hour! Sally was texting me like "I can't get to work!"' Sally added: 'But do you know what happened, as ever, the Breakfast family kicked in and our John Watson was at the back of the traffic jam. 'I safely left my car, ran all along the bridge and John rescued me and driven me in!' Jon said: 'If you were going to be rescued, John Watson is the man to rescue you. James Bond.' Sally told viewers: 'So apologies that I am a little bit late... 'Did I miss anything?' Jon joked: 'Just the news! Thank goodness you're here.' 'Thank goodness, YOU'RE here!,' Sally replied. Those watching at home did take to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their confusion about where Sally was. One said: 'Was wondering why Jon was on his own at the start of the programme. Are we expected to believe this story about bridge malfunctions on Salford Quays from lie-abed Sally?' 'Has Sally Nugent slept in or has she just had enough of working with Jon Kay. Who could blame her.' Another brutally added: '#bbcbreakfast There 's only one thing worse than Jon and Sally presenting Breakfast... And that's Jon presenting it on his own.. ' Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on Sally not being on their screens It comes after BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt gasped 'are you okay?!' as Naga Munchetty wobbled on the sofa and warned 'I feel faint' in the middle of the broadcast. The pair had just turned to look right down the camera lens after interviewing a guest when Naga, 50, suddenly seemed to slip briefly off the edge of the sofa. She said, laughing nervously: 'Five minutes to - oh, nearly fell off the chair then! Five minutes to nine...' Her co-host, 62, slightly baffled at the randomness of the moment, gestured to the sofa and replied: 'I don't know what to say, it stayed in the same place, it's quite secure!' Naga quickly reassured him, saying, 'It was just my hand, it's just my hand slipped' - before her face fell and she suddenly went serious, putting her hand to forehead to admit: 'Feeling all faint.'
