GMC Sierra With Gullwing Door Has A Surprising Function

Read the full story on Backfire News We admittedly have never seen a GMC Sierra with a gullwing door, so when we recently ran across one listed for sale, it made us do a double take. We've seen people do gullwings, scissor doors, etc. on Honda Civics and the like, but never on a pricey truck like makes this even more interesting is the gullwing door involves the front and rear doors on the driver's side being fused together so they lift as one unit. On the passenger side, the front and rear doors open like normal. But as we read the ad, we immediately understood this wasn't some weird modification to make a statement or anger people, like the Carolina Squat. Instead, it's been done to allow a driver in a wheelchair to get in and out of the truck. While we've seen a lot of minivans converted for wheelchairs, a Sierra 3500HD isn't quite so common. Whoever owns this truck probably wanted something off-road capable, because this has been lifted and rolls on some 35-inch Toyos with some pretty meaty tread blocks. But it is a two-wheel-drive pickup, so it's not like the driver was going hardcore wheeling. Still, we can understand not wanting to roll around in a minivan. The seller says all the modification work was done by All-Terrain Conversions. There's a lift on the driver's side to get the wheelchair in and out of the driver's position. Plus, this thing has a custom center console and a power rolling tonneau cover. And of course there are hand controls as well as pedals. But that giant gullwing door on the driver's side is just wild. We've never seen anything quite like it, and we've looked at a lot of cars in person and online. Check out this truck's listing here.
