Love Island fans enraged at lack of Caroline Flack tribute on 10-year special

Love Island fans were left disappointed after the show's 10-year special episode on Sunday night didn't include a tribute to the late Caroline Flack, the original host of the ITV2 series Love Island fans have been left confused and upset thanks to the show's 10-year anniversary episode lacking a dedicated tribute to Caroline Flack. The one-off special also failed to pay homage to late contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon. The original Love Island presenter took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40. Prior to her passing, Caroline had stepped back from hosting the ITV2 dating series and had been replaced by Irish presenter Laura Whitmore, wife of the show's narrator Iain Stirling. Caroline's death occurred during the first season of Love Island's winter series, with the show briefly paused before resuming with an on-air tribute to the late presenter from Iain. However, as the reality TV series celebrates a decade on our screens, another tribute to Caroline has been snubbed despite her popularity. The late star was a hit with viewers, with Love Island's 2015 comeback seeing its viewing figures almost double after a 10-year hiatus. Ahead of the series' return this year, ITV aired a 10-year anniversary special episode on Sunday night, honouring the successful history of the enduring reality show. However, amidst the festivities, several fans expressed their disappointment that no tributes were made to Caroline and late Love Island stars Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon. Mike tragically took his own life in 2019 at just 26 years old, while Sophie died by suicide in 2018, aged 32. "Ten years of love island and no sign of Caroline Flack #LoveIsland," one viewer observed on Twitter (X) on Sunday night, with another raging: "Sorry but watch #LoveIsland won't even pay tribute to acknowledge the late Mike and Sophie or even Caroline bet they just wanna show clips of the drama and loved up couples of they don't poor on Love Island not to really is @LoveIsland." "I don't like that they didn't do a mini tribute to Caroline Flack, she was basically responsible for the show coming back #LoveIsland," a third argued as another mused: "Did anyone else think there would be like an in memoriam thing at the end for Caroline Flack? Kind of weird there wasn't? #LoveIsland." Despite this, some viewers admitted how joyful it was to see vintage footage of Caroline presenting the show featured in the programme. "The hardest part of watching back Love Island's ten years of highlights is seeing how happy Caroline was," one emotional viewer penned. "Love Island was truly her happy place." After Caroline's death in February 2020, a coroner ruled she took her own life after learning prosecutors were going to press ahead with an assault charge over an incident involving her boyfriend, Lewis Burton. She was best known for presenting ITV reality show Love Island from 2015 to 2019, and was also a presenter on The X Factor, I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! NOW! and TMi. In 2014, she won series 12 of Strictly Come Dancing, partnered by professional dancer Pasha Kovalev, achieving a perfect score in the final. An upcoming Disney+ documentary follows Caroline's mother as she tries to understand events in the final months of her daughter's life, while also celebrating her career. *If you're struggling and need to talk, the Samaritans operate a free helpline open 24/7 on 116 123. Thalassitis took his own life in 2019 at the age of 26, and Gradon died by suicide in 2018 aged 32. However, some viewers acknowledged how happy it made them to see old footage of Flack presenting the show featured on the programme. @MisTintehotbabe said: 'At the end of the day, without Caroline there would be no Love Island. They could have done a slideshow or something to acknowledge her but they didn't.' The discontented viewer continued: 'They could have paid tribute to Mike and Sophie [too] – I'm so disappointed, it's as if none of them even existed.' @TheCommentariat added: 'I don't like that they didn't do a mini-tribute to Caroline Flack, she was basically responsible for the show coming back.' @RebeccaMaria said she expected something different: 'Did anyone else think there would be like an in memoriam thing at the end for Caroline Flack? Kind of weird there wasn't?' While some fans were disappointed at the lack of Flack, the 10-year special did feature brief appearances from her, Thalassitis, and Gradon. Flack quit Love Island shortly before her death after being charged by police with assault, saying at the time: 'In order not to detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series 6.' She added that there had been a 'significant number of media reports and allegations in regards to my personal life' but that she had 'never experienced such kindness and love in my whole life'. Love Island fans emotional after one-off 10 year anniversary special sees Caroline Flack briefly back on screens - but slam ITV for failing to include a tribute to late host

Love Island fans were left emotional after seeing Caroline Flack return to screens on Sunday night in the one-off anniversary special. But some viewers were left upset and 'disappointed' that there was no tribute to remember the late presenter at the end of the show. The TV star died at her North East London home on February 15, 2020, at the age of 40 and her death was ruled a suicide in an inquest in August of that year. Love Island: A Decade of Love saw former Islanders return to take a trip down memory lane and look back at the last 10 years of the reality show. Stars including newly-wed Dani Dyer, as well as Liam Reardon and Millie Court, Demi Jones and Shaughna Phillips made an iconic return for the special. But some viewers watched in disbelief and took to social media to share how they were 'disappointed' that there was no tribute at the end of the show to remember her (pictured on show in 2018) And Caroline briefly made her return on the screen, with many left moved at her brief appearance in the special 90-minute episode. She was seen in particular hugging Molly-Mae Hague at the fire pit after she returned from Casa Amor to meet Tommy Fury in series five. Taking to X, fans admitted it was bittersweet to see the presenter again, and praised her for being so important to the show. They wrote: 'Aw, Caroline. She was Love Island. She genuinely cared about everyone.'; 'Love seeing Caroline again'; 'big up Caroline'. 'The hardest part of watching back Love Island's ten years of highlights is seeing how happy Caroline was. Love Island was truly her happy place'. However, many also voiced their disappointment that there was no special tribute to Caroline, nor former contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon, who both also tragically took their lives after starring on the show. They took to social media to write: '@LoveIsland really disappointed there was nothing on Caroline Flack in the birthday episode'; 'I don't like that they didn't do a mini tribute to Caroline Flack, she was basically responsible for the show coming back'; 'Ten years of love island and no sign of Caroline Flack'. However, many also voiced their disappointment that there was no special tribute to Caroline, nor former contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon, who both also tragically took their lives after starring on the show 'I'm shocked they didn't even pay tribute to her Mike and Sophie'; 'They celebrated a decade of love island without a tribute for Caroline flack, she was love island'. 'Did anyone else thing there would be like an in memoriam thing at the end for Caroline Flack? Kind of weird there wasn't?' 'At the end of the day without Caroline there would be no #LoveIsland like they could of done a slide show or something to acknowledge her but they didn't they could of payed tribute to Mike and Sophie i'm so disappointed'. Last year, The Met has said it is making 'further enquiries' as new witness evidence 'may be available' relating to the actions of officers in appealing the initial CPS decision not to charge Caroline. Her bereft mother, Christine Flack, said she and her family had been left with 'important, unanswered questions' and vowed 'we won't 'stop until we get the truth'. At the time, the TV star's mother told the Mirror: 'We won't stop until we get the truth. Something very unusual happened to Carrie at the police station that night, but no one kept a proper record explaining why. 'I have now made a complaint to compel the officer to give the -statement we think he should have given four years ago. As a family, we have been left with important -unanswered questions.'

Olly Murs BOOED by his own supporters after making strange admission during 15 Years of Hits tour

Olly Murs was met with boos by his own fans as he made a strange admission during a show on Friday. The X Factor star, 41, had taken his 15 Years of Hits tour to Liverpool, where he was greeted by a packed out audience ready to belt out his biggest hits. But the Troublemaker singer turned the atmosphere sour halfway through the performance as he let one of his band members 'embarrass' him in front of the crowd. Olly paused the show to tell the crowd: 'On this part of the show, I have absolutely no idea what is about to appear on that screen,' pointing to the visualiser behind him. The photo that flashed up was one of Olly touching the This Is Anfield sign at Liverpool Football Club's stadium, prompting a legion of rival Everton supporters in the crowd to start jeering the performer. With half of the crowd cheering and the other half loud in their disapproval, Olly continued: 'Of course this will probably get the biggest boo of the night. 'I am a Manchester United fan.' The singer then burst into laughter as boos became louder, before joking: 'Shall I go?' The rest of the show however went smoothly, with Olly belting out a host of his greatest hits to much fanfare. The Liverpool Echo reported that at one point, there was a heart-warming moment as he remembered his friend Caroline Flack, who passed away in 2020. Olly dedicated his song Dear Darling to Caroline after telling his supporters: 'I genuinely think about her everyday. 'I know that feeling of losing someone that you love very much. With this song, I want you to think of those people and sing with me.' The 15 Years of Hits tour continues on Saturday at the O2 in London before the singer heads to the OVO Arena Wembley on Sunday. Before he embarked on the tour, Olly underwent a rigorous 12-week diet and exercise regime organised by a team of dedicated professionals. There was a heart-warming moment later in the show as Olly remembered his dear friend Caroline Flack, who passed away in 2020 [Pictured in 2015] And the hard work seems to have paid off, with fans noticing the singer is in the best shape of his life. Olly's personal trainer Rob Solly gave MailOnline an insight into Olly's hard work in the gym earlier this month. 'The level of intensity was higher than a regular session as we had a clear deadline to peak for. This wasn't about staying generally fit, it was about getting Olly stage-ready,' he explained. 'It was crucial that he stayed injury-free because this isn't a one-day photo shoot, it's a 20-plus-date arena tour.' 'We focused on mobility, addressing any minor niggles early, building in dynamic warm-ups, and using pre-hab exercises to keep him resilient and in top form not just for opening night, but for the entire five weeks and beyond.' Rob said Olly's sessions are built around 'compound exercises' like 'deadlifts, lunges, squats, dips and pull-ups'. 'Obviously, there's lots more to it than that, but these exercises build strong foundations, and they hit several muscles at once,' he said. 'Up and down the country people are doing the same exercises. The key to the next level of success is the overload, intensity and recovery of the exercises.'
