Carthage-area bridge to close for $2.8 million replacement project
JASPER CO., Mo. — A Carthage area bridge will close to traffic for the next several weeks.
Crews will begin a 2.8 million dollar project to replace the Missouri Route 96 bridge over Route 171, just west of Carthage, starting Monday, May 12. The new bridge will be 12 feet longer and slightly higher, with a new guardrail, barrier walls, and permanent striping.
Driveways on either side of the bridge will still be accessible, and Route 171 will stay open during construction except for brief intervals. Detours will be marked with signs.
The Missouri Department of Transportation expects the project will be complete by November 19.
