I bought a bundle from Vinted & ended up with a ‘Cartier bracelet' for 23p – but people don't believe it

The savvy shopper managed to get her hands on the vintage piece of jewellery and has even conducted some of her own tests to determine if it's real or not. 2 A woman has revealed how she received a 'Cartier Love bracelet' in her Vinted bundle Credit: TikTok/@twistedtreasuresect Sharing a video on her TikTok page, 'twistedtreasuresect', the woman revealed that her bracelet might be worth at least £1,000. Speaking to her 2,014 followers, the Vinted shopper explained that she bought two bundles, which came to £46, and each individual item worked out at around 23p. In that bundle, she claimed to have received a Cartier Love bracelet, which, if purchased from the shop, starts at around £4,500 depending on the design. She explained that she had reached out to several Facebook groups to ask whether they thought it was real or fake, and opinions were divided. The TikToker also revealed that she had conducted a few tests herself to determine the authenticity of the material. She said: 'I held it in white vinegar and the only metals that don't react with vinegar are gold, platinum and high-quality sterling silver. 'And there was no reaction. 'So it's going to be one of those three metals regardless of whether it's real or fake. It's also not magnetic. 'And metals that aren't magnetic are aluminium, copper, gold, silver, lead and brass. 'So the options of the two are going to be gold or silver. So the chances are it's going to be one of those two. Here's hoping anyway. I made £185 in less than 24 hours on Vinted thanks to a pricing trick that hooks sellers without having to send offers 'It's also 18g in weight.' The woman went on to show different clips of the bracelet, before explaining that some of the gemstones are missing, which means if it were real, she 'wouldn't get anywhere near the value that it would be.' However, she urged people to bear in mind that it is 18g. An 18-gram bracelet is relatively lightweight and comfortable for everyday wear, but whether it is "good" depends on the material. Gold bracelet For example, if it is a gold bracelet, the weight contributes to its value, so an 18g gold bracelet could be considered good quality and more substantial than lighter options. If it is silver or stainless steel, these materials would feel lightweight yet durable for casual use. The TikToker went on to say: 'If it is gold, it is still worth just under or just over £1,000 depending on what quotes I get from jewellers. 'I will be taking this for an inspection, but I've ordered a gold metal testing kit just to test it first because if it's not gold, then I don't know if it's worth me taking it.' 2 It appears to be just like the Cartier Love Bracelet Credit: TikTok/@twistedtreasuresect The video received 87.6k views within five days of being shared. One person wrote: 'So years ago my dad brought a bracelet like this home from Dubai. It was gold. "I didn't know Cartier at the time but clearly, it was a copy so it can be gold and not Cartier at the same time.' Whilst a second added: 'That's a fake but a good one.'

New Vinted rules to be aware of IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you'll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play. If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax. However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown. You're unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year - generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax. A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit - the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale. However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700. It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe. While your data won't be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you'll still need to pay tax as normal.

Cartier and Van Cleef owner announces surprising year-end results

My mom and I wear matching Cartier Love bracelets. It's kind of our thing - and it means more than just jewelry. Anyone who owns one knows it's not just a bracelet. It's an experience. At the boutique, you're offered a glass of Cartier-branded champagne (or Pellegrino for us sober girlies), which instantly sets the tone - elegant, intimate, and deeply personal. Related: Burberry plans major layoffs in desperate reset for luxury brand From that first sip to the moment the bracelet is locked onto your wrist, it feels less like a purchase and more like a rite of passage. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Cartier - and its sister brand Van Cleef & Arpels - has mastered that emotional connection. Their pieces represent more than luxury. They carry meaning. Which is why it's no surprise that their parent company just reported strong year-end results. According to the company's latest press release, Richemont ( (CFRHF) ) ended the year on a high note. In the fourth quarter, group sales rose 7% at constant exchange rates, driven by an 11% increase from its powerhouse Jewellery Maisons, including Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. That segment brought in more than €3.7 billion (~$4.1 billion) in Q4 sales, reinforcing Richemont's dominance in ultra-luxury. The jewelry business continues to thrive, even as demand cools elsewhere. Related: Major jewelry player pulls the plug on distressed brand While competitors like Kering and Burberry are scaling back, Richemont is doubling down - opening boutiques, expanding manufacturing, and adding new names like Vhernier to its portfolio. Not every luxury brand is growing right now, especially with tariff uncertainty and shifting consumer demand. But, Richemont is finding a way. Richemont's results reflect more than just smart timing. They are the payoff of a long-term strategy focused on heritage, craftsmanship, and direct-to-consumer control. Jewelry now makes up more than 70% of Richemont's total business, and it's only growing. The company also holds one of the strongest balance sheets in luxury, with €8.3 billion (~$9.27 billion) in net cash. That kind of financial flexibility allows Richemont to keep investing, even when other brands are cutting back. It's why the company could take a nearly €1 billion write-down on its former e-commerce business and still post a €2.75 billion (~$3.07 billion) annual profit. With a refreshed leadership team, a booming jewelry division, and a global footprint that's more balanced than most, Richemont isn't just surviving this market. It's quietly leading it. If these results say anything, it's clear that my mom and I aren't the only ones locking something special onto our wrists. I designed Meghan's £2.5k heart pendant – these are the style rules I swear by

Want to know how to spot a London girl in Miami? Look for the one cooing over knitwear (jumpers being far more useful back home than bikinis). 'Look how fun this is!' says Sophie Lis, holding her just-procured Sabal tie-dye cashmere cardigan up to her laptop camera. Lis, 41, is the jewellery designer whose Magic Leaf hoops and Love pendant have been worn by Sienna Miller and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. This week she's traded Notting Hill for Florida to attend a jewellery conference, and the brightness of her surroundings has recalibrated her palette. 'I think it's the sun. It's the only time I wear colour.' Still, today she is wearing a more typical outfit of sleek, neutral separates: a vintage Saint Laurent blazer, black J Crew T-shirt, Khaite jeans and a Saint Laurent belt. She's a smart shopper who mixes Alex Eagle tailoring, Galvan coats and Raey knits with Cos T-shirts and luxury resale gems – most recently, a pair of The Row zip-up boots from Vestiaire Collective. 'I'd been looking for them for ages and finally found them. It can take time, but it's worth it.' Lis adores a surprise high street hit, too, such as the white Reiss tuxedo that admirers mistake for Max Mara. Black and white are a theme – she 'never' wears colour in London. 'Getting dressed up for me would be a great pair of leather shorts, fantastic tailoring or, at most, sequins,' she says. 'But jewellery is always the thing that I'm going to have more fun with,' she adds, before running me through her six different earrings (' I like to mismatch ' the stacks of three on each side); necklaces (her Compass pendant 'symbolises guidance and direction, which is nice when you're travelling'); bracelets (three prototypes of diamond tennis bracelets worn on the same wrist as yellow-gold Cartier Love and Juste un Clou bangles); and rings. There's memory and meaning in every item. 'Special pieces of jewellery should tell stories. Everything I design has a symbolic reference to help someone bond with it. And then hopefully enjoy wearing it even more.' The most meaningful pieces in her daily jewel-drobe are two rings spelling out her daughters' initials in Morse code, with each dot or dash indicated by a brilliant-cut round or baguette diamond – like a stealth but equally personal alternative to the name necklaces so many mothers wear. Octavia, aged seven, and Lupita, four, know exactly which is which. 'They love to try 'their' ring on.'' Lis recalls a 'totally idyllic childhood riding horses and surrounded by animals' in rural Oxfordshire. But jewellery also entered the frame early; she remembers being entranced by her grandmother's diamond cluster ring. She started her business in 2016 after struggling to find jewellery at a sweet-spot price point for her wedding. Now, the Fallen Star hoop earrings (£460) she designed for her big day are her bestsellers, and have been worn by Claire Foy, Princess Eugenie and Romeo Beckham. Seeing high-profile fans in her designs is always exciting, but she finds another type of jewellery-spotting even more gratifying. 'The real 'wow' moment is when I see strangers wearing them out in their everyday lives,' Lis says, 'loving them as much as I do.' Sophie Lis's five rules for personal style Don't be afraid to mismatch your earrings. It's an easy way to add interest around the face, which is never a bad thing Find clever ways to buy the best-quality pieces you can. Set up alerts on resale sites to help you shop smarter – you never know what you might find A matching set like a tuxedo or co-ord takes the stress out of putting an outfit together and looks super-chic. Then you can have fun with the accessories Try to choose natural fabrics over man-made. I think they look and feel better, and they're better for the environment Raid your husband's wardrobe and you'll have a second set of clothes for free. I love to wear my husband's oversized jumpers and sports tops Shop her style
