Tributes to 'lovable' 20-year-old killed in crash

The family of a man described as the "most lovable person" have paid tribute to him after he died in a crash. Carwyn Huws, 20, from Bethesda, Gwynedd, died after a crash at about 17:30 BST near Capel Curig, Conwy county, on 10 May. The collision happened on the A5 and involved a Mr Huws' Honda motorbike and a Volkswagen Caddy van. His family shared a tribute thanking everyone for their "support and kind words" and described Mr Huws as a "loving son" who would "always be there for everyone". Emergency services said Mr Huws died at the scene while the female passenger on his motorbike was airlifted to hospital where she remains with serious injuries. The family's tribute added: "In particular, we would like to thank mountain rescue, paramedics, and the Air Ambulance teams who worked so hard to save him. "We would also like to say our thoughts are with the pillion passenger and wish her a full recovery." North Wales Police said its investigation into the crash was ongoing.

Mr Huws was riding a Honda motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Caddy van. He tragically died at the scene. A woman, who was a pillion passenger on the motorbike, was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. Mr Huws' family have now released a tribute to him via North Wales Police. All who knew him and loved him, Carwyn was the kindest most loveable person and would always be there for everyone. 'As a family, we would like to thank ALL for their support and kind words and request that our privacy is respected at this devastating time. In particular, we would like to thank Mountain Rescue, Paramedics, and the Air Ambulance teams who worked so hard to save him. 'Carwyn was so loved and we are heartbroken. We would also like to say our thoughts are with the pillion passenger and wish her a full recovery.' Police said the investigation to establish the cause of the collision is underway. A spokesperson said: "We continue to appeal for information and witnesses to the collision which happened shortly before 5.30pm on Saturday, May 10th on the A5 at Capel Curig and involved a Honda motorcycle and a Volkswagen Caddy van. "The emergency services attended, however, sadly, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The female pillion passenger was airlifted to hospital in Stoke where she remains with serious injuries.
