Kimi Antonelli, 18, skips F1: The Movie red carpet to graduate from SCHOOL ahead of Austrian GP
CELEBRATIONS are coming at breakneck speed for Formula One star Kimi Antonelli. Less than two weeks ago, at the age of 18 years and 294 days old, he became F1 's third-youngest podium sitter ever with a third-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix. 5 But just over a week later, the teenage superstar was celebrating another major milestone as he graduated from SCHOOL. Following his maiden podium in Montreal, Antonelli returned home to Casalecchio di Reno, Italy, to sit his final exams. On Monday evening, the Mercedes rookie shared a picture on Instagram showing him wearing a celebratory green and red garland on his head. He captioned the image, "promosso," which is Italian for "passed". Reporters swarmed outside his school afterwards, eager to get a word with the rapidly rising F1 star. He said: "I was fairly stressed, because I didn't have much time to study. But I did my best." Antonelli has been juggling his academic studies with his duties as an F1 driver in the first half of the 2025 season, putting his life in the fast lane into overdrive. His attendance at school meant he skipped the red carpet for the premiere of F1: The Movie in London. Earlier this year Antonelli invited 25 of his classmates to join him at his home race in the Imola Grand Prix. But now having completed his schooling he can fully prepare for the remaining 14 rounds of the F1 world championship. Hamilton and Co dressed to impress during the Leicester Square premiere, with the likes of Brad Pitt, Tate McRae and Tom Cruise all dazzling in the capital. A New York event in the previous week with his fellow speedsters was passed up by Antonelli too, though Max Verstappen also skipped the event to be at home with his new baby daughter. The next F1 race commences in Austria this weekend, with McLaren 's Oscar Piastri leading the World Drivers Championship by 22 points after team-mate Lando Norris crashed out of the race.

Formula 1 rookie Kimi Antonelli passed his final exams to graduate from high school back home in Italy just like he's been passing other cars on tracks around the world: without trouble. The 18-year-old Mercedes driver made the announcement in an Instagram story Monday, saying 'promosso' – passed – with a photo of himself wearing a laurel wreath. After claiming his first podium result with a third-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix, Antonelli returned home to Casalecchio di Reno near Bologna to take his exams. 'I was fairly stressed because I didn't have much time to study. But I did my best,' Antonelli told reporters after taking the first portion of exams last week. He said English is his favorite subject because 'that's the one that comes easiest for me.' Antonelli added that he wanted to complete the exams, which included both written and oral sections, before the upcoming Austrian GP 'so I can focus full time on racing.'
